PNW ID request. Gymnopilus? *Update!*

Habitat:
Woodchipped hillside in a public park, PNW.

Gills:


Stem:


Cap:


Spore print color:
Rusty orange

Bruising:
There's some greenish spots on the caps and stem of some of the mushrooms when I found them. No bruising apparent from handling.

Other information:
I think the pictures describe the mushroom better than I can, but I can provide more pictures/descriptions if needed.

That is exciting, I've never found any gyms before! Any guesses as to specific species?

Yeah I have one printing now. I'll have to go back when they're more mature to get a few good ones to print. Was gonna try putting a stem on cardboard too to see what happens.

Update: went back and harvested a few, got home and learned that maggots love gyms. So I threw all the buggy bits into a bag and saved em for a little ghetto tek project.

I collected supplies (cardboard, wood mulch, small amount of soil, hardwood log) and took it all to a secluded spot in the woods.



On a hillside, under a maple tree and in between two big fallen trees. About 20 yards behind the camera is a small creek.

I dug a small hole under the fern and covered the bottom with cardboard and mixed soil/wood mulch.



I took my bag of bits and threw a few pieces on top. Then i took all the bits with gills and rubbed it all over as much of the log as possible, focusing on the cracks in the bark and the ends.




I wrapped the bottom and one of the top ends of the log in paper, put some of the more myceliated stems inside and pressed it down onto the mulch layer.



I then took the remaining mush bits and mulch and mixed it together, sandwiching it to the log with cardboard. I made sure the log was securely in place and smoked a nice doobie




And now we wait. I'll be bringing more wood mulch down here another day and spreading spores/honey water lc on and around the log on a semi regular basis. I am wanting to put down enough mulch to cover up the cardboard around the base of the log, i just had my hands full as it is today.

I would love to hear suggestions on how to improve this and future projects (without sterile work! At least for now.) Hope y'all enjoyed it! I definitely did.
