Mushroom id request - central NC
    #25623503 -

Small funnel-shaped mushroom in the trail in the woods around hardwoods and softwoods. Looked to be a flesh colored chanterelle from a distance but it lacked gills entirely! The middle of the funnel looked like it might have split open in a splintery kind of way which might lead me to think it could be a mutant?? But I’m not quite sure if it had actually split open. I left it on the ground. Has anyone seen something like this before?

Looks like a Clavariadelphus truncatus
