Bummer. Do you think I could find weilii near where I found these ? They are look alikees right! And don't fakes grow near the active ones?

I'm still learning about weilii myself but these that you found that look like weilii are found in clusters alot of the times against cut down trees in the same area as weilii you will notice the clusters of them seem to look rotted keep looking though sounds like you are in some good territory maybe being I find these as well...Also the gills are jet black/brown on those most of your weilii is going to have a faint whitish color sometimes some staining instead of being jet black/brown

Perhaps, I saw a ton of Lacrymaria today and in out of the 30 places I saw them I probably found weilii nearby them 3 of the times.

Walk the outskirts of the properties woodlines looking for hills alot of times there will be retaining ponds near them the hills you are looking for will have redclay small 14-15 foot lobllolly pines and baby lobllolly pines as well as baby sweet gum trees briars and green moss in this pic I'm on a hill right above a retaining pond the hill has small growth of all that I described and has taller lobllolly pines at the top feeding the hill by dropping pine straw on it...wear long sleeves and some gloves and work your way through the brushy area on the hill racking back leaves and foilage lightly alot of the time they will be where the top of the hill meets the flatland so pull back the dead foilage in those areas as well


Also look for new construction as in 5-10 year old vs the brand new ones that still have construction going on...this time of year for sure search Google for apartments near by go take a look at them if they look newer but fully built and a few years old search the outskirts for the retention pond area and look for the hills!!
