“The rule with the mic” vs the first amendment

Good luck with that

Nope, Acosta and CNN can express whatever they want, but they're not entitled to hog the mic and not follow the rules.

Maybe CNN can send someone that is capable of following the rules like everybody else does in the WH.

He asked:

“Why did you characterize the caravan as an invasion?”  Did you demonize them?”

“Are you concerned about indictments coming down (per the Russia investigation)?”

The whole time he’s being talked over and being called names.

First you said it was his questions, then you said it was how he asked it, then it was he wasn’t following the rules, then it was he assaulted the girl, then it was he was asking loaded/slanderous questions, now it’s “mic” rules.  You have no argument and come off as a troll.

Yep you don’t get it either. The content of the question is not a valid reason to kick him out. I just wish there was some punitive measure that could be imposed when the White House violates s reporters first amendment rights

How do you figure that the White House "violated" Acosta's first amendment right?  If Acosta wanted to ask those questions by posting them in his newspaper, nobody is stopping him from doing that.  Acosta was invited to the White house, and the White House can decide to withdraw that privilege anytime it wants and for any reason at all.

There's already legal precedent this violates first amendment rights.

The best part, the precedent resolved an issue where the credentials were revoked over actual violence, not fake violence. Haaa.

You're full of it, I NEVER stated it was "his questions" that were the issue, or "how he asked it".

The argument is very simple, Acosta asked slanderous loaded questions and then didn't follow the rules, that's why got banned.

This isn't about banning a certain ideology, it's about not following the basic rules of the WH.

I can't comment on this precedent because I have no training in law.  So I will leave it for other people to interpret the significance of it.  Also, let's say that this precedent is on Acosta's side, does this mean that from now on, the White house cannot kick a reporter out of its press conferences for any reason at all, because according to you, this would violate said reporter's 1st amendment rights?

absolutely wrong. They cannot remove him for any reason. There is a first amendment. The White House cannot pick and choose who has access to press conferences. That press pass belongs to CNN and CNN can send whoever they want. They can’t take away his pass because they don’t think he’s respectful enough. That is a clear violation of the first amendment. Trump has no leg to stand on, and that doctored tape is not going to look good. I expect the judge will issue personal admonishment to Sarah sanders for her role. They won’t be able to lie in front of the judge. Should be interesting.

So in what circumstances can the White House take away reporters' passes?

Also, it doest seem like Acosta's 1st amendment rights have been violated.  He can still ask those questions in his papers all he wants.

No reporter has had their press pass punitively removed in the history of the United States. The first amendment is very clear about the the ability of the press to be unemcumbered in their work.
