Please think outside the box. To think you only have two choices is a detriment to the causes. They got us going against each other like we aren't all poor/middle class families trying to get by.

The real division is the rich versus us, the fucked (shout out to Shameless).

I almost missed the sarcasm.

I don't see how we Make America Great Again by losing business and environmental regulations. Sure, people with money make more money, but at what cost?

I won't lie. My life is going okay with this current administration. I have been fortunate enough to be able to invest money (and the market has done really well). But, is this the barometer of success? Or a healthy country? Is the "greatness" of a country determined by the amount of money we possess?

Despite my own personal success, I am not so selfish that I can't see those lacking. They say a rising tide raises ALL ships, but that is not what I see. I see people with money getting more, and those without getting less.

The Republicans like to hang their hat on the "hard work" mantra. Just work harder and sacrifice more. You will achieve the dream. I think this is false, and it has not been my observation of those in my community.

In my job, I have a wide view of society. I work with all. I find the amount of poverty astounding, and it is not because of laziness or a lack of education. I work with professionals (some Master's level) who are extremely poor - one pay check or calamity away from bankruptcy. They do not waste money. They do not abuse drugs. They are hard-working American's. This is not the type of America that I would like to see.

This country is in bed with money, and it's going to get much worse unless there are drastic changes. Red or Blue is stupid. While Blue better approximates my current belief system - it is not perfect.

I don't think either side will ever win. The pendulum swings so far, and then back the other way. I am hopeful that we can swing back towards the populace, allow working Americans a decent standard of living, and erase the fear of a medical issue bankrupting your family. Sure, some call that liberal, or, uh, bad word, socialist, but I just view it as people-centered.

As long as we see progress as dollars, scents, and 3% economic growth, we are off-track. I think most people are blind to our real nature. They are distracted, under-nourished, and under-educated - buying into a political charade. Regardless of your belief system, we need to get back to basics.

I’m not a blind supporter. I’ve just realized as I grew older, I related much less to the uneducated dems who think they know how capitalism works. If the rich are taxed more, everyone makes less money. The less money companies have to immediately funnels back into the company they are profiting off of. And guess what? You benefit from business! When’s the last time you went to a supermarket? When’s the last time you watched a “AAA” movie? None of that’s possible without having big business. The poor are just stupid, lazy, or unfortunate. While it’s true that not everyone gets to experience life to the fullest, that’s life. That’s how it works.

But honestly, what gives you the right to tell other people how they should spend their money? If they want to donate, fund programs, etc, that’s on them. If you want a socialist paradise, Venezuela is not that far away.

So if the rich are given tax breaks, everyone makes more money?  No, trickle down economics is a failed concept, we have 40 years of hard data to support it. 

BTW, what have the companies done after receiving the largest corporate tax cut in US history?  Yeah, almost all of the money went into share buybacks.  There's no rule that suggests they have to reinvest it back into labor or equipment. People that embrace trickle down don't understand the true nature of capitalism.

Trickle down does work.

When everyone argues trickle, they always think about the massive business. But imagine a business of 5 employees. More money for a successful company means growth. Move up to a company populated of 500, 5000,  50000, and so forth.

This is complete bullshit propaganda.

I should specify that I am not talking about the rich. The 1% threshold in the US is roughly 350,000. That's not THAT much money, honestly. We need to be focusing on the uber-rich. There is no reason Jeff Bezos should not be taxed hard on his 250 million dollar profit, daily. Can you imagine that kind of income? It would be a full-time job to spend that kind of money. Meanwhile, his employees are getting shafted. People don't choose low paying jobs for fun, it is out of necessity.

No, it wouldn't be a full time job to spend big money. The maintenance and upkeep and risk of business can end a person.

Don't act like big companies never tank.

What you are saying is preposterous. We shouldn't take rich people's money. If any thing, we should begin to define monopoly. We should use that definition to prevent monopoly. Google.

If that was true, we wouldn't be seeing the top .01 of 1% making the vast majority of the economic gains relative to the rest of the population.

I do understand your argument, and as in most cases, balance is necessary.

However, when you look at the data, wealth continues to consolidate at the top. This money can be used to further consolidate wealth by influencing elections and other shady happenings.

We may have to agree to disagree.

About how much money do you make? You think these folks are really looking out for your best interest? Trust me, the type of tax of the rich/corporations that is being proposed would not likely impact you. Fear not.

I'm a capitalist, but if I don't point some of the flaws with the current version of it, I would be dishonest.

What we're doing is destroying capitalism, it can't survive if the trends continue and I don't want to see that happen.
