Fementation lid on mason jar for long term storage?
    #25569317 -

First post.

First of all, I can't thank everyone enough for all of your help all over this site. It has truly changed my life, the site and what it helps me cultivate. Also, I searched the forums for this method and was not able to find it.

Anyway, I am looking into long term storage techniques and O2 and moisture seem to be the enemy. I have a dehydrator which I LOVE. Would it be fair to assume that if I used a fermentation lid to remove most of the air from a mason jar with an airtight seal, then put some desiccant packets and O2 absorbents in the jar, they would keep for a long while? This is after they're cracker dry, of course.

This is what I was thinking:

This might be overkill, but I figure if I'm putting time and energy into this hobby I want to preserve the fruits of my labor in case I have an abundance.

Thanks everybody!

Just dry them and stick them in a bag. They'll last years.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

I keep mine in regular, unmodified quart jars
