Syringe Problems

Hi,

Attempted to inoculate my first batch of BRF/Verm cakes tonight and ran into all sorts of problems with my syringes. Basically the spore solution was just running everywhere when I pointed the needle down...without pushing the plunger part. Then when I flamed the needle it quickly bent making it difficult to puncture the Tyvek filter. And while trying to puncture it the spores where going everywhere.

I just didn't expect my syringe to be doing that. I was expecting to push on the plunger part (is there a proper name for that?) to extract the solution not for it to just run freely when pointing the needle down.

I've never used syringes before but either these were absolute rubbish or I'm missing something fundamental about how to use them.

Has anyone seen this problem?

I'm pretty sure I used way too much solution in the cakes. I'll play the waiting game now but it was bloody chaos.

What are u doing? the suction In the needle shouldn't have it just falling out and what u mean the needle bent randomly when u put a flame to it? Try just holding it at an upward angle next time and not forging the needle in red hot heat lol

You'll get a couple drops that will boil out sometimes when you flame. Then let the needle cool a few seconds before you go ramming into tyvek.

The very tip of the needle bent when I flamed it a second time after inoculating the first cake.

Idk, maybe it's just a faulty needle, try to ask for a replacement or use a more reliable vendor?
