Counsel ling and my Psychedelic Experience

Hi all,

So just some background information before I start. I've suffered from anxiety (Social and general) and depression for at least 6 years now, I'm currently 21. Recently I decided to do something about it, which involved going to my GP, being subscribed sertraline and going to my university counselor. I've had a few sessions of counselling now and I'm finding it helpful.

The other day I tried magic mushrooms after thinking about them for some time. The experience was magic, spent the first half with my friend and then the second half on my own listening to music staring at 4K nature scenes. While I was on my own I had some heavy, insightful thoughts, it wasn't scary but wasn't enjoyable either. My mind thought a lot about the sources of my anxiety and what my counselor had said to me. I then came to the conclusion that there is really no reason worrying about what people think about you and that you should just get on with your life and enjoy it. There was more to this but i wont go into too much detail.

After waking up the next day I felt like I had reached some kind of inner piece, some of the conflicts that were happening in my mind had just gone! I feel that my social anxiety may have dramatically been reduced from the whole experience.

My question is, do you think I should tell my counselor about my experience? Will they help me head in the right direction on this new road or react negatively to me using illegal drugs.

I'd appreciate some help

A counselor MAY be a bit more understanding than a psyc dr.

Generally the mental health industry is void of anything remotely remarkable. It's pretty much an atheist industry void of real feeling. If they wanted you better, that's a loss of biz for them.
