have you read any good books lately? i don't think i've read a book in years, but i'd like to start one. any suggestions? i don't really care what it's about...i just don't want it to be too boring. just something to pass the time and possibly a little exercise for my grey mass, know what i mean?

I hadn't read for a while but recently read 'high society' by Ben Elton. It is pretty light reading but pretty entertaining and it's got me back into reading again - if you feel it would help to 'ease into it'. If not, I would recommend The Da Vinci code by Dan Brown whch I am reading at the moment. It is a fantastic book. Kinda a mystery but the author is really well researched in art and symbology - so it is kind of fiction but factual at the same time. Apparantly his book Devils and Angels is even better - it has stuff about symbology as well but also about the illuminati.

Conscious Dreaming by Robert Moss, if your into that sort of thing. And of course anything by Terence Mckenna. I'd recommend True Hallucinations if you're looking for a good entertaining read

Thai Horse by William Deihl, author of Sharkey's Machine, Primal Fear and Chameleon.
Thai Horse is about a cia agent in A central american jail in the jungle/Not allowed to speak or his tongue will get cut off.
He talks daily to a mand throught a hole int his prison cell wall only to later realiuze there is no man there.
During his imprisonment he tends to eat some yellow -green mushrooms which teach him how to survive. Then he is bought in a CIA exchange to return to VIet-Nam where his best friends plane went down in the Cambodian jungle 15 years before.
The man he is looking for is the son of a retiring General.
It has heorin smuggling, chinese tongs, magic shrooms and would make one hell of a movie if they stuck tot he book.
The last name of the autrhor might be mispelled but typoing in those other names can give a correct spelling.
I read this book 5 times. Easy reading and a better story than Sharkey;'s Machine (a Burt Reynolds movie) ever was.

I just finished reading "Masters of Deception" - an easy, light read about some early hackers in the late 80s-90s. An interesting sidenote, one of the characters in the book (it is non-fiction) was a lyricist for the Dead and wrote the lyrics to "Estimated Prophet" amongst many others.
Before that I read "What is Life?" by Erwin Schrodinger... one of the best things that I've looked at in a long time.
Now I'm starting "Food of the Gods" - it better be as good as all you guys keep saying!
Also I second ChinaCat when he says Ram Das (just buy Be Here Now for the artwork! It's amazing!) and James Joyce.
Finally if you want some lighter reading, check out any of the novels by Charles Bukowski (I might especially recommend Post Office). I have a problem where I cannot fall asleep without reading for at least 1 hour before turning off my light, and Bukowski, Hemmingway, and Celine are the only three authors that I can still follow while piss drunk.

I am going to recommend Aztec by Gary Jennings - amazing book. The Spider World series by Colin Wilson is also great, especially the first book. I think these books would be great for someone who hasn't read a good book in a while, I think it would be hard to not find these books entertaining.
