There shouldn't be any issue addressing different sets of problems simultaneously, it happens all the time.

It's the same problem, there's nothing different about it. Police brutality affects all US citizens regardless of race.

Same problem of police brutality? For sure. Same causes? Same solutions? I'm not so sure.

The USA is full of various communities that are culturally distinct enough to envision that different responses may be beneficial.

Even if I'm wrong, does 'Black Lives Matter' imply that police brutality is not an issue for non-blacks? I don't think so - if, as you say, the problem is completely the same across country and communities, then any progress made by BLM would be progress felt by everyone else as well. It's not like they are trying to pass anti police brutality reform that only protects blacks - they are trying to pass anti police brutality reform, full stop.

I can understand not being an active participant, if you prefer to focus only on things that directly and explicitly relate to you - but why put your energy into actively opposing BLM?

Sure, but the problem is no one is addressing the billionaire problem at all.

I think Bernie addressed this issue pretty well in the last election, but of course the MSM didn't cover that aspect very much and even suggested he was "radical" socialist.

Today, people like Tucker are starting to address the massive wealth and income inequality. Obviously, our current political and MSM system continues to ignore this glaring reality.

I agree, I was a Bernie supporter, but I mean no one is actually doing anything about it. It's all talk. Whether it's actually beneficial or not all other issues are actively being engaged and I have no doubt will continue to be. I'm not saying we shouldn't still discuss those issues but the billionaire issue should be by at large our major focus, that is THE problem right now. It's like a proverbial elephant in the room and 9.5 out of 10 people are arguing over whether we should wash the dishes or pick up the trash. As I see it it really doesn't matter if the dishes are even cleaned because if we don't do something with this god damned elephant they're all going to be smashed and the entire room will become trash.

Probably because sufficiently addressing wealth inequality requires a serious upheaval of our current status quo; whereas blaming the 'others' of society is mostly just business as usual.

People are more devoted to "order" than to justice; prefer a negative peace which is the absence of tension over a positive peace which is the presence of justice.

Is this because people are naturally lazy? Or perhaps it's because the billionaires who stand to lose the most also currently exhibit the most power over our society and put every effort into keeping the masses complacent?

If we are supposed to vote with our dollars under capitalism in order to shape our society, and a tiny minority of people control the vast majority of wealth, would it not be reasonable to expect that this tiny minority would be the ones controlling the development of society?

I've stopped waiting for the masses to rise up in revolution, but I still am unwilling to submit. Insurrection is my conclusion. Not revolution - insurrection.

BLM was funded by soros as an election wedge to push minorities and libshits away from the republican party. if you look closely BLM ran out of money once the open society foundation stopped funding them.

That reads like a bunch of conspiracy theory not backed up by evidence, I suspect it is. BLM is also a disorganized movement, there is no central organizers or group so to say "they ran out of funding" doesn't even make sense. Did the hippie movement die out in the 60's bc their Jew backers stopped cutting them checks?

When George Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF) was accused last year of funding Black Lives Matter (BLM), Ken Zimmerman, the director of U.S. programs at OSF, flatly denied it and claimed it was a fantastic rumor. “I can’t really speculate on what leads to rumors, but it is wrong,” he said, “I don’t even know where one begins to reconstruct something like that.” Early this week, hackers published documents which show that two months before Zimmerman’s denial, the OSF board approved $650,000 to BLM.

Fair enough, it's not a conspiracy theory. I still don't quite understand though, it seems like an ambiguity in what is defined as the BLM movement. It is a disorganized movement. It looks like these various groups fund it and essentially to reverse organize it if you will; creating and directing the anarchy almost.

I do agree that seems questionable in that it is manipulative, but I also do not really see anything particularly harmful when analysing it either. It does make me wonder though, something very nefarious could come out of it; organic activists could be right in what they are doing yet be a small piece in a larger orchestrated picture that they do not realize. Now I'm actually delving into conspiracy theory territory. I do find this rather alarming.

dont take my word for it man. its good you have an open mind. look into it. personally i really hate the (for lack of a better term)"globalist" elite who dont give a fuck about a country and peoples right to self govern.

you are right though. its grass roots at execution level but planning and funding comes much higher up from these huge philanthropic foundations. george soros is pretty much a meme at this point but he has a history of wrecking countries economically/culture revolutions and then profiting off their suffering. hes only just now getting into the US before he was funding the mass migration into europe

https://www.rt.com/op-ed/361376-george-soros-investing-forced-immigration/

Quote:
Soros' letter begins: “The world has been unsettled by a surge in forced migration. Tens of millions of people are on the move, fleeing their home countries in search of a better life abroad. Some are escaping civil war or an oppressive regime; others are forced out by extreme poverty, lured by the possibility of economic advancement for themselves and their families.”

This is quite true. And Soros should know since his think tank is fully on board with that “forced migration”. He has either initiated it or facilitated it and, according to Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary (which is presently holding a referendum on whether to accept migrant quotas as demanded by the EU), as quoted by Bloomberg: “His name is perhaps the strongest example of those who support anything that weakens nation states, they support everything that changes the traditional European lifestyle […] These activists who support immigrants inadvertently become part of this international human-smuggling network.”

Soros-backed activists are at the center of that network.

Soros continues: “Our collective failure to develop and implement effective policies to handle the increased flow has contributed greatly to human misery and political instability—both in countries people are fleeing and in the countries that host them, willingly or not. Migrants are often forced into lives of idle despair, while host countries fail to reap the proven benefit that greater integration could bring.”

Hungarian PM says his country does not need ‘a single migrant’
I have touched on Soros’ psychological peculiarities elsewhere; his narcissistic traits notwithstanding, I shall assume he is not using the royal “we”. That granted, about whom is he speaking when he talks of “Our collective failure to develop and implement effective policies”? If about governments, we should remember that he is elected to no nation’s government, nor has he ever been.

That does not prevent him, however, from meddling in their internal affairs and supporting insurrections such as so-called Color Revolutions, including in Georgia and Ukraine, and whipping up chaos via BLM in the US.

He also famously attacked the British pound, making himself a billion dollars.

if he had his way the eu and un would control the entire fucking world and be under a single monetary system.

The "BEZOS Act" would tax corporations for every dollar that their low-wage workers receive in government assistance.

>Sen. Bernie Sanders' criticism of Amazon peaked Wednesday as he and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., introduced legislation to tax corporations for every dollar that their low-wage workers receive in government health-care benefits or food stamps.

>The bill, pointedly called the Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies, or BEZOS, Act, is aimed at shaming companies like Amazon and Walmart, whose workers rely on public assistance.

>For months, Sanders has targeted Amazon, juxtaposing the wealth of CEO Jeff Bezos with reports that Amazon warehouse workers are paid less than industry averages and rely on food stamps.

>Bezos is the richest man in the world, with a net worth of more than $168 billion.

>"Our legislation gives large, profitable employers a choice: Pay workers a living wage or pay for the public assistance programs their low-wage employees are forced to depend upon," Sanders said of the proposed law.

>For example, if an Amazon worker received $2,000 in food stamps, Amazon would be taxed $2,000 to cover that cost.

>Amazon has previously called the Vermont independent's claims about working conditions in its fulfillment centers "inaccurate and misleading" and a spokesperson declined to further comment on the bill.

Still, it does bring up a good point about capitalist (and state) co-option of grassroots activist groups/movements. It's happened time and time again. To protect capitalist (and state) interests, they dull the teeth of activist groups; think Greenpeace transitioning towards a definition of 'nonviolence' as the NGO industry grew greater in influence, that limits them to essentially symbolic direct actions; think of LGBTQ Pride being rooted in a radical activism of trans people of colour in response to police oppression turning into just another excuse for the masses to party; think of the militant resistance of the anti-Vietnam war movement compared to the passive resistance of the anti-Iraq war movement; and yeah, maybe compare the Black Panthers to Black Lives Matter. Just looking at what we know about COINTELPRO should be enough to confirm this.

If they can go one step further, they'll sell our activism back to us. Greenwashed 'eco' products, pinkwashed corporate advertising for Pride, Che Guevara t-shirts, and Nikes newest campaign.

The best defence against this co-option is being committed to creating truly leaderless movements. You'll even read this in state sponsored papers like in the 2005 study titled Anarchist Direct Actions: A Challenge for Law Enforcement. This defence from co-option and corruption ties into the reasons for anarchist opposition to hierarchy and is an example of the anarchist tendency for the ends to be reflected in the means.

Some examples would be comparing Greenpeace to Earth First! and the Earth Liberation Front - or comparing PETA to Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty and the Animal Liberation Front.

There's no conspiracy in that.

I think cops treat everyone unfairly except rich people. I am white. I support BLM because it brings exposure to police brutality. As I see it this helps everyone. I also see dismissing them, belittling them, or whatever because white people are not specifically included has the opposite effect and instead empowers the police.

Why would you not support their movement? Do you think if they stopped targeting black people so much that they would instead target ehite people? I just don't see anything to lose, at worst someone else gains something, at best we all do (except the abusive police and those benefiting from the prison industrial complex). It's like saying if we can't fix the entire problem all at once we shouldn't fix any of it.

Why would I support a movement that fails to acknowledge the same issues that affect everybody?  They divide people down racial lines, that's very problematic.

What if I suggested I want to raise the minimum wage for white people?  I mean at worst at least white people will make more money. We could one day work on a higher wage for non-whites, but why stop progress, correct?

Let's exclude people with identical issues and then become irate when there's a lack of unity.

There are plenty of white people out there supporting them and they are welcomed, they do not push them away or anything. The difference with your wage analogy is to raise the minimum wage only for white people would then create a disadvantage for everyone who is not white. If you said to end under the table payments below minimum wage for white people that would be more equivalent. Do you not see the difference?

Like supporting a movement that only concerns itself with police brutality towards non-whites?

No, my concern is about EVERYBODY, not just certain demographics.

The fact that my demographic is being purposely ignored just makes pointing out the hypocrisy that much easier. BLM and Kaepernick always wanted the divide and that's exactly what they have today.

please read their own about page. BLM is an exclusionary ideology by design.

Quote:
The Black Lives Matter Global Network is a chapter-based, member-led organization whose mission is to build local power and to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

We are expansive. We are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. We also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. We must ensure we are building a movement that brings all of us to the front.

We affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. Our network centers those who have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.

We are working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise.

We affirm our humanity, our contributions to this society, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.

They don't march for every non-white death from police either. You'd be having to have daily marches. I don't think that should discredit the movement. You don't have to protest every instance of police brutality and oppression to still be working towards ending it.

Here's a few other instances where white lives were acknowledged: Daniel Harris, Jeremy Mardis and Daniel Shaver:

Have there been any particularly severe cases of police brutality against a white person that you felt was ignored?
