If you just took 5 mg every few hours you would probably never notice it.

And if you eat healthy it should negate the opioid side effects.

2 sodas a day will slowly destroy your life.

Things effect people differently.

Generally taking opiates everyday is more detrimental to one's health since tolerance and the urge to dose more come into play outside of the sterile scenario presented. Plus people who seek drugs like that tend to push thrill seeking behavior farther and farther until it other areas of their lives fall apart. People who casually drink soda with a meal generally arn't looking at what they are doing as drug consumption even though it is. So there isn't a imprinted pattern of drug seeking behavior that can eventually consume one's live. 

Speaking really generally, I'm aware of morbidly obese people and people who have to take pain pills to cope with medical situations arn't in the demographic I'm discussing.

lol I know right. I've worked in restaurants for almost the last decade and alot of fit people drink soda. People I've met with opiate habits were not the ones otherwise eating healthy, exercising regularly, engaging in healthy relationships... ect ect. Plus the opiate users were mostly also drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, drinking soda, doing cocaine, yada yada.

So for me stripping reality away from soda and morphine and comparing their unhealthy attributes in a oversimplified sterile scenario that almost never plays out in real life isn't actually making any point.

The tension from the conflict over the soda was probably more health detrimental than actually drinking a soda.

Don't blow this out of proportion, there was no real conflict.
The soda wasn't purchased. End of story. I just think its an interesting fact that soda will probably ruin someone's health faster than morphine in the scenario I presented

Ehh If I as a drug user was like "I'm not getting you the soda you asked for because I know whats best" to my girlfriend that would for sure create some sort of resentment or negative reaction whether she let it be super obvious or not.

But no you are correct opiates technically don't cause physical harm to your body(unless you take too much and die) and sugar does screw stuff up.

I'm just saying the scenario you presented doesn't play out typically at all in the real world so it really doesn't say anything about anything. 

Our bodies are completely capable of filtering out and adjusting to moderate amount of poisons or negative substances in our food & environment. Creating ridiculous comparisons to justify what is essentially just stubbornness on your part to avoid doing a favor isn't going to proof your point that soda is bad. I assume she like everyone else who is intelligent knows that soda is bad and just wanted to say fuck it for the afternoon. I totally would rather have that than a girlfriend that has anything to do with regularly taking opiates.

i think that physically the soda will have more consequences in your hypothetical.  My real question is how the hell did your girlfriend react when you acted like Pepsi is a some sort of dirty habit?  that would have pissed my girlfriend off if she wanted a Pepsi and I refused.

Edit:  poster above me (wigglewak?) is spot on I think I know if I was in your girlfriends place id think what the hell now I have to get my own damn soda.

I was raised this way and I'm damn glad because when i take a look at the majority of my peers who were they look like shit and are still nursing that chaff daily.

I don't think people realize how terrible that much sugar is for you.

Yikes.

No it's just that getting the soda and feeling good about doing something nice for my significant other would have been the unchallenged route in my mind over being overbearingly judgmental over a minor vice and then comparing that vice to popping pills and taking it to the internet.

This isn't a debate between her and I. She's a physicians assistant and knows I'm correct.

This thread is purely for discussion, if you feel like there's too much conflict or judgement here for your taste I might recommend you go check out some of Patlals threads to ease your mind :wink:

Nah I get her treats all the time, I just draw the line with soda. Sue me :shrug:

Also I don't take the passive approach to everything just to avoid any potential "conflict". I put it all out there and if it stirs up something than we get it in the open and talk about it. I'm glad that you've found what works for you though :thumbup:

I can comment on what I wish and I did comment on the premise of 30mg of mophine vs 2 sodas being flawed.

Yeah its a silly question because the two things are barely comparable, if that is obvious to you and there's nothing left to add what are you looking to accomplish?
