It has armored plates to protect itself. That mean he's a target for predators.  But he's heavily defended from them because of a hostile armor.  The evolution strategy of that animal was purely defensive.  It what worked the best in term of natural breeding events

I like all animals. I had arachnophobia as a child and was terrified of spider's. I would see one crawling on the wall in the house and cry because I thought it would end up killing me and my family in our sleep lol. Now I understand them and keep some of the most aggressive and venomous spider's and tarantula's just feet from where I sleep. I'm not really into the hobby but I keep a few just because they're interesting to me and low maintenance pets. Pit bull Terrier's are my favorite animal though.

I hate spiders. I was tripping one day trying to identify this spider in my room on google and flipped the fuck out when I saw a spider on my phone screen.

Tripping is the best time to befriend an eight legged friend. I hated them too, but not anymore.  I need to get one I can handle again. I tend to only end up obtaining the rare exotics that you can handle at your own risk.

Mantis Shrimp are always pretty amazing.







their eyes are the most complex optic organs in the animal kingdom. they can see like infrared, ultraviolet, and I think somehow they subtlety see sound waves but I could be remembering it wrong.

Humans and most animals have 3 color receptors. With Red, Green and Blue we can pick up on all the colors that see everyday. But a mantis shrimp's eyes have 12 color receptors so they can see a insane amount of colors that we can't see.

oh and They straight up punch their prey either killing, stunning or just hurting them depending on their preys size. The largest force of impact that was recorded from a mantis shrimp punch  struck with the power of a 22. caliber bullet. They straight up smash aquarium glass.

oh and also they can also look like constantly changing rainbow colors due to their shell if the lighting is right.

OH SHIT AND PISTOL SHRIMP! I almost forgot about those little buggers!







So let me tell you about these little BAMFs, They got a special modified pincer usually on one of their claws, what this baby does is when pincer opens up it gets locked into the open position. then when the pincer is released it snaps shut at extremely high speed creating a sort of air cannon.

When this happens a tiny bubble forms and explodes at the base of where the 2 claws meet creating a sonoluminescence effect. (Sonoluminescence is the emission of short bursts of light from imploding bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound.) That fucking bubble reaches temperatures around 4,700 °C The Surface of the sun is around 5,500 °C

...sometimes just regular shrimp can be cool too...

I caught a mantis shrimp on my fishing pole back in the late 90's pier fishing.  I didn't know what to think because I never seen one before. I got it off the hook without touching it with my hands and released it. They are interesting inverts.
