Auto-SummaryThe forum post discusses the prospects of a peace deal between North Korea and the USA during the Trump administration. Stonehenge asserts that no peace deal will be brokered during Trump's time in office, citing Trump's postponement of talks and his criticism of Bolton. Peteyboy argues that Kim Jong Un desires a peaceful legacy for his people and that his regime fears a revolution if he steps away. The post also touches on the Juche ideology, with Stonehenge noting that Kim's transition toward peace could elevate his status among the North Korean population. However, skepticism remains regarding the sincerity of North Korea's willingness to surrender their nukes.

Its kind of comical how the far left is rooting for no peace and no relief to the koreans. They want the talks to fail because they are afraid trump will get some credit for the results.
Trump did not call off the talks, btw. He simply put them off a bit further. Kim was getting mouthy so trump slapped him down. He said the door was open to talks later on. I suppose once that happens the loony left will let out a groan and start moaning non stop. Then go into overdrive trying to say it was going to happen anyway and trump had nothing to do with it. You guys are SO predictable.
Agreed that bolton is an asshat
 This is exactly right...

No they did not. And they won't.
Yes he has, Trumps administration would never have even agreed to talks in the first place if this promise was not made to Pompeo. It wouldn't have ever even been announced if this was not agreed upon ahead of time...

Peteyboy said: ... Kim Jung un has the opportunity to go down in history as a literal god to the N Korean people by being responsible atleast in his people's minds for modernizing and westernizing his country and its people. He wants this legacy and will get it. ...
technically, it is kind of the reverse the Kim family lineage is Divine according to state propaganda making peace means his people coming to terms with him not being a literal god as they had been lead to believe
According to state propaganda, which the N Koreans domt actually believe in, they are forced to publicly act as if they do because of they don't they are murdered...They don't legitimately worship him they do it out of fear for their life and their families well being...Kim could transcend this oppressive foothold and free his people of this strangulation on their freedom...The N Korean history books will paint him as the greatest revolutionary in Korean history if he is responsible for bringing this revolution to his country.
Peteyboy said: ... Also Kim would be required to go to Singapore for the peace talks. There is concern amongst Kims regime about leaving his country for any amount of extended time as he fears their will be a full fledged revolution in his absence and he will be overthrown. ...
Because the rest of the regime want the status and legacy Kim already has

but yeah, he is basically turning his back on his grandfather's entire philosophical tradition in moving toward peace in particular, the Juche philosophy of being able to achieve success independently
This is exactly right...and the N Korean population is well aware of this change in ideology, all the more reason moving toward peace will elevate Kim in the minds of the people...
Quote: Juche Ideology
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is guided in its activities by the Juche idea authored by President Kim Il Sung. The Juche idea means, in a nutshell, that the masters of the revolution and construction are the masses of the people and that they are also the motive force of the revolution and construction.
The Juche idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything. It is the man-centred world outlook and also a political philosophy to materialize the independence of the popular masses, namely, a philosophy which elucidates the theoretical basis of politics that leads the development of society along the right path.
The Government of the DPRK steadfastly maintains Juche in all realms of the revolution and construction.
Establishing Juche means adopting the attitude of a master towards the revolution and construction of one's country. It means maintaining an independent and creative standpoint in finding solutions to the problems which arise in the revolution and construction. It implies solving those problems mainly by one's own efforts and in conformity with the actual conditions of one's own POLITICS country. The realization of independence in politics, selfsufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence is a principle the Government maintains consistently.
The Korean people value the independence of the country and nation and, under the pressure of imperialists and dominationsts, have thoroughly implemented the principle of independence, self-reliance and self-defence, defending the country's sovereignty and dignity firmly.
It is an invariable policy of the Government of the Republic, guided by the Juche idea, to treasure the Juche character and national character and maintain and realize them. The Government of the Republic always adheres to the principle of Juche, the principle of national independence, and thus is carrying out the socialist cause of Juche.

He is desperate for peace, he can't hold onto his power much longer with the intensity of the sanctions beimg placed on them...he knows its now or never...and never means death by pitchforks...
