Re: I don't often rub salt into wounds when people are wrong about geopolitical affairs... [Re: koods]

Wishful thinking, IMO.  There will be no deal... Not during Trump's presidency.

Edit: However, if there is  deal, as unlikely as that may be, you are right to suspect it will not be the kind of deal Trump has led all his supporters to believe it will be.

Don't get ahead of yourself buddy...The talks aren't cancelled...If you read his book "Art of the deal" you would realize Trump is using the threat as a negotiating tactic so that Kim knows this isn't gauranteed unless he keeps his  end of the deal...Be prepared to have salt rubbed into this wound....:yesnod:

:jah::jah:

Exactly right. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back, asc. The talks are not off and will be completed. Now kim is looking for a face saving way to restart them

I was right about the talks that were supposed to take place this month.  I stated that Kim or Trump would back out of the talks more than 2 months ago, thinking it would be the former and ultimately changing my opinion to the latter of the two pulling out of the talks.  You and a couple others wrote that I didn't know what I was talking about.  The funny thing is that you all touted a peace deal with North Korea being just around the corner.  I told you, having lived in South Korea for more than 3 years, you guys were jumping the gun on your conclusion about a possible treaty, much to my dissatisfaction.  I say dissatisfaction, Stoney, because I actually want for there to be peace between NK, SK, China, Japan and the USA, irrespective who is responsible for brokering such a peace deal.  I even stated that I would give Trump credit if he was able to bring such a peace deal about even though I think the guy is a piece of shit.

I will say it once more, there will be no peace deal between North Korea and the USA brokered during Trump's time in office.  You can pretend all you like that I am wrong... Now you are playing cutesy with dates.  You said there would be peace this May--I said there would not be.

Kim will never let this opportunity pass, they have already agreed to surrender their nukes...Bolton is an establishment neocon war monger who was brought in to handle Iran...I personally hate the guy and believe he is trying to sabotage the  peace deal on behalf of the globalist establishment...he had his chance to do the right thing and he didn't so now he will be fired too...

Kim Jung un has the opportunity to go down in history as a literal god to the N Korean people by being responsible atleast in his people's minds for modernizing and westernizing his country and its people. He wants this legacy and will get it.

Bolton is an asshat but before he got involved Kim was all about the peace deal, as soon as Bolton is out of the picture the deal will move forward.

Also Kim would be required to go to Singapore for the peace talks. There is concern amongst Kims regime about leaving his country for any amount of extended time as he fears their will be a full fledged revolution in his absence and he will be overthrown.

I too want to see peace between China, the US, Japan, and the Korea's. We are very close...probably not May but i would say sometime this summer this will all be worked out...

Its kind of comical how the far left is rooting for no peace and no relief to the koreans. They want the talks to fail because they are afraid trump will get some credit for the results.

Trump did not call off the talks, btw. He simply put them off a bit further. Kim was getting mouthy so trump slapped him down. He said the door was open to talks later on. I suppose once that happens the loony left will let out a groan and start moaning non stop. Then go into overdrive trying to say it was going to happen anyway and trump had nothing to do with it. You guys are SO predictable.

Agreed that bolton is an asshat

in particular, the Juche philosophy of being able to achieve success independently

Juche Ideology

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is guided in its activities by the Juche idea authored by President Kim Il Sung. The Juche idea means, in a nutshell, that the masters of the revolution and construction are the masses of the people and that they are also the motive force of the revolution and construction.

The Juche idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything. It is the man-centred world outlook and also a political philosophy to materialize the independence of the popular masses, namely, a philosophy which elucidates the theoretical basis of politics that leads the development of society along the right path.

The Government of the DPRK steadfastly maintains Juche in all realms of the revolution and construction.

Establishing Juche means adopting the attitude of a master towards the revolution and construction of one's country. It means maintaining an independent and creative standpoint in finding solutions to the problems which arise in the revolution and construction. It implies solving those problems mainly by one's own efforts and in conformity with the actual conditions of one's own POLITICS country. The realization of independence in politics, selfsufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence is a principle the Government maintains consistently.

The Korean people value the independence of the country and nation and, under the pressure of imperialists and dominationsts, have thoroughly implemented the principle of independence, self-reliance and self-defence, defending the country's sovereignty and dignity firmly.

It is an invariable policy of the Government of the Republic, guided by the Juche idea, to treasure the Juche character and national character and maintain and realize them. The Government of the Republic always adheres to the principle of Juche, the principle of national independence, and thus is carrying out the socialist cause of Juche.

Your proof is this gang of amateurs who have zero diplomatic experience think Kim told them he would get rid of their nukes?

What they did agree to is the total denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. To North Korea that means the US - which is a nuclear power - stops all military activity in Korea and Korean waters. Of course Trump doesn't know the history of North Korean negotiations and has no clue that denuclearization means bilateral denuclearization

How long do deals last?

Answer

As long as they last

Deweaponizing an enemy is almost always a great idea.  That goes for drugs, food, air, water, sun, good weather.  Whatever floats their boat.

Then set conditions for 'good behavior' and give the basics of life.  Then go from their if behavior improves.

That's why jail is worse than most funny farms.

I plan to give him and the rest of the peace hating lefties a big horse laugh when trump pulls it off. The talks were postponed so asc did his victory dance and high fived all the other far lefties. Me thinks it was a bit premature, hence the horse laugh when it happens.

If it was obama who managed to this, I would be impressed. I would not say it just happened by itself even though I despise obummer. But no, obama was bowing to kim and giving him more and more free goodies in his term. His policy was "please take this gift and act better" Kim of course acted worse, too bad we didn't have trump then before fat man developed all those nukes.

Obama did do it with Iran. The JCPA.

As for Obama and North Korea, how did Obama bow to Kim? He got UN sanctions increased twice during his terms. He sent food aide. That's it

I'll say this again. North Korea WILL NOT give up its nukes. It's absolutely silly Trump heads think this will happen.

Again, way to take what I said out of context to argue against a position I never made--typical behavior from someone who enjoyed the No Spin Zone.

I am assuming you missed the part of my statement where I said, and I quote, "I told you, having lived in South Korea for more than 3 years, you guys were jumping the gun on your conclusion about a possible treaty, much to my dissatisfaction.  I say dissatisfaction, Stoney, because I actually want for there to be peace between NK, SK, China, Japan and the USA, irrespective who is responsible for brokering such a peace deal.  I even stated that I would give Trump credit if he was able to bring such a peace deal about even though I think the guy is a piece of shit."

Don't pull that crap of "lefties want war if it is Trump who wants peace... Because they hate Trump!"  I dislike Trump's policy decisions, and I do not think threatening fire and fury will bring about a lasting peace between the U.S. and North Korea, do you?  I am making a prediction, Stoney, and you deduce my prediction to not wanting peace because I dislike Trump.  That's pretty lame, dude, honestly.
