Hello all. I'm a new member here and stumbled upon the site as I researched the legality of bringing a mushroom spore print & growing kit into my country. I realise now it's pretty illegal and could land me into a lot of trouble. I am a cluster headache sufferer, if you dont know what that is - try a simple explanation as eating an ice cream too quickly and that sharp pain that comes for a few moments, try nestling that for 1 to 1.5 hours in the middle of the night - it's very, very painful - calling it a headache is a huge injustice to those that suffer. As of recent times I've learnt that there is an emerging community that have found magic mushrooms, in medicinal quantities, provide amazing relief for people that suffer, they have either taken them during an episode (each episode typically for me lasts 3-4 weeks of attacks every day or other day) are able to abort / end their episode after a dosage of mushrooms. Others use them as a preventative measure, perhaps 4 times per year, in order to keep the beast (cluster sufferers call the pain the beast, as if some malevolent force has taken up residence in your head driving an ice pick through your eye & temple) away, again with many posting of huge success. I'm pretty keen to open that discussion up here on this board, I see Clusters have been posted about from what I can see a few years ago, wondering if there are many active users that come from the same background as myself? I'm a pretty passionate soul and knowing how painful these things are, I'd be keen to arm myself to the hilt with the knowledge and see what I can do in my country to raise awareness and lobby whomever I need to in order to get some kind of controlled trial off the ground. With the disease affecting 1 in 1000 people, it means there are 40,000 + individuals in my country living with this thing. Sure there are other clinical / prescribed treatments but I am not so keen on long term use of prescription meds, I dont want the side effects of heart problems and this kind of thing - no thanks! If I can open up a discussion to any other sufferers, mycologists that might be fascinated, other fellow New Zealand country-men that have something to add, then I figure that'd be a pretty good place to start. I would say that my background / youth saw me experiment with mushrooms and that I've said colours talk, laughed for a solid 12 hours, and generally experienced that side of the magic mushroom / Psilocybin experience but my intention isn't to experience this again - the strength required for medicinal benefit is understood to be that of having 1-2 beers; a mild "buzz" whilst collecting the benefits that the magic does to the regions of the brain responsible for the disease. It's certainly promising that something that naturally grows on the Earth could present a solution to what is a bloody awful problem to have!
