Yes for cooling, but the same principal makes them work as a humidifier. You can buy ones from the store that work the exact same way, I had one.

I understand what you mean about oysters but it looks like my problem remains the same as them; lack of FAE despite the fact that i have (2) 2 inch holes cut out the front, a fan aimed directly at the hole to evacuate stagnant air and a humidifier feeding fresh humid air in. At this point i leave everything on 24/7 but no changes.

Someone mentioned something about cutting holes in the top but i need to have that clarified better. I dont think i have a problem with RH, my humidifier is working great.
