Manaforts Lawyers File For Dismissal of charges...
    #25101327 -

It looks like Muller cannot have his investigation outside of the 'Russia Collusion Issues' because Rod Rosestein is not appointed.  It is some kind of Constitutional issue.  I don't understand it because I am not a lawyer maybe Enlil can clear this up.

perhaps this part of the motion to dismiss:

Quote:
But the charges in the superseding indictment go well beyond that scope, covering alleged acts that politically accountable prosecutors already knew about and had not prosecuted for years. That old news could not have "arise[n] directly from" the Special Counsel's investigation.

is the important part...does Manafort's legal team have evidence that "politically accountable prosecutors already knew about [alleged acts] for years" and neglected to bring charges?  or were the alleged acts discovered as a natural part of this current investigation?

ETA: i didn't read the whole motion.  maybe they presented evidence of that claim or perhaps they don't have to but it seems reasonable that they would have to back up any such claim if it is directly relevant to the motion.

The Russia story has flat lined. There is nothing.

I know you will disagree, which is why, no matter who runs in 2020, it is going to be a wild witch-hunt for every candidate.

Did the candidate ever have dinner with a Russian? Bingo!

Lol a prosecutor is duty bound to prosecute any crime they discover in the course of an investigation.

You haven't been paying attention. Mueller filing this week accuses the trump campaign of direct, knowing communication with Russian intelligence.

The article actually says they spoke to a person with "ties to a Russian intelligence service and had such ties in 2016". It's not alleging direct communique with Russian intelligence agents though the headline is pretty misleading.

EDIT: rereading it again it does state "Gates told him Person A was a former Russian intelligence officer with the GRU."

But I think the information is incorrect because of the prior statement not directly identifying Person A as a Russian agent, just someone who "has ties a to Russian Intelligence service" which is vague, if that makes sense.

Also, collusion is not a crime.  So why is 'collusion' investigated?

Oh it's flatlined, and this is another nothingburger.  Do you know why Mueller’s memo fails to identify “Person A”???  :smirk:

Because it's standard to not name people who haven't been indicted in court filings

Because journalists who closely follow this knows it's Konstantin Kilimnik, who worked for the International Republican Institute, a US-funded “democracy promotion” outfit whose board of directors is currently chaired by Senator John McCain (R-Arizona).

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Is there any confirmation he was a GRU officer?

If 4 years of Trump pass and there is no collusion charges filed, I will be waiting to see the reactions of all the Russian collusion enthusiasts here. I bet they will argue that it did happen, but our system failed to properly address it.

None that I'm aware.  What I've read is he studied foreign languages at a Soviet military school, so people assume he's a GRU officer.

Kilimnik (who is now a citizen of Ukraine) actually denied any connection to intelligence agencies.

So there's no real proof one way or another (although anyone should correct me if I missed something somewhere).

trump has already destroyed the conservative movement. He is the last republican president. Who is ever gonna respect the morons in the  middle of the country who would have voted for someone so epically stupid and corrupt. Ryan is the last republican speaker. McConnell is the last republican senate leader. Republicans have made themselves the laughing stock of the world.

And yes he did cheat. He did collude. The DNC hacks were cheating and he was fully supportive of that criminal act. He asked Russia for more. Publically. And they gave him the podesta hacks.
