A wonderful development. Africa needs to get their business together completely apart from the outside world. They also should move to a pan-African currency (like the dollar or the euro) that is heavily backed by the physical assets that Africa is so richly endowerd with.
Africa must finally get the African Union going, bigtime. If a Union ever paid off, it will be in Africa.
The AU army must go country to country to fuck off all dictators and their cronies and restructure politics not across oligarchy and nepotoism but based on genuine democracy.
IMF and World Bank need to completely fuck off out of Africa, they have shown what they are about - controlling the mother continent through poverty and distortion.
Africa should renegotiate all contracts with foreign powers to reasonable standards to ease the stranglehold of Europe, China and America. The producer should set the price, just like in any other continent.
Africa should set standards on foreign charities. If they are not effectively helpful, they should either change their policies or get out. Emphasis should be on employing local workers and creating local expertise rather than flying in whites who don't understand the culture or language to "play benefactor" in what amounts to an alternative way to vacation instead of providing structural aid.
Africa should build bridges between its many ethnicities, establish English and Kiswahili as pan-African secondary languages and encourage former enemies to set feuds aside and work together to mutual profit.
AFRICA SHOULD DEFAULT ON ALL DEBTS - fact of the matter is that these debts were paid ages ago and now they are paying interest on interest on interest in an extortion scheme that will never end.
Africa should close the cellphone/internet gap and get connected as far as possible. the AU should place a bunch of communication satellites over Africa and make them free to access for local corporations who are motivated bringing Africa into the 21st century more than profit. The wealth Africa can generate for itself if every last village has thorough access to the internet, that has answers to all questions and can connect likeminded peoples, volunteers and investors is off the charts.
Criteria for travel visa to nations on the continent should include the condition that one should add meaningfully to the continent. A family wants to watch Victoria Falls and climb mount Kilimanjaro? Sure, you do no harm, you come to unload lots of money, come right in. A questionable businessman wants to sneak in to, in effect, take away from Africa by starting yet another unjust or clandestine business model? No entry.
Ultimately Africa should work, like any continent, towards a Guaranteed Basic Income for all citizens with emphasis on technological development. Africa has what it takes to be a leading continent in the world, if it can get its business in order and climb out of the hole history has dug it into.
Things like that.
I think that would be the future for Africa, to ensure growth and respect, not just between Africa and the outside world but also by Africans, for Africans, because there is much healing to be done.
If there's one thing Africa needs a whole lot less of, is foreigner from the outside telling it what it should do, so I merely offer this as my outsider opinion, as a friend of Africa - nothing more.
