Dear m8's

I was looking arround to find a place to indroduce myself. I hope my decicion to do that here in "The Pub" was correct.

I'm almost 50 Years old, studied chemistry and now I'm working as an IT Engineer. I'm suffering of migrain.
Latley I read that some people seem to succsessfully fight migrain with microdosing mushrooms.
As I have an old deep friendship with those mushrooms from some years ago I decided to give it a try.

So this autumn I went to some places I've visited last time about 20 years ago.. and I found some of my old friends. You call them Liberty caps (Psilocybe semilanceata)

Since 6 Weeks now I was not hit by migrain any more. Usualy I had it every 2 weeks. So it seems to work. (I'll report)

Now i'm here to secure replenishment. And because i'm a freaking nerd.

My plan is to get into growing mushrooms. As I'm a chemist I want to do it in a scientific way. Read a lot make a plan and execute and document it. (I'll report) Thats why I'm here now.

Your migraines must be pretty severe.  I get them but i only get the flashing colors and squiggle lines for 15 mins then it goes away and I don't have the head ach after that a lot of people get.

The first one I got was after a show at a camp ground.  I passed out on a nitrous balloon and woke up having one lol.  I just thought I was super whacked.

I watched a documentary where a guy had horrible cluster head ache and used lsd to get rid of them.  So maybe mushrooms works as well.  You should start a thread or make a journal and document your findings.  Lots of people suffer from migraines.

That's awesome that you have found relief through the mushroom! I think it will be cases like yours that bring about the eventual legalization of psychedelics - we should use the same trajectory as marijuana: first legalize medical usage.

I've actually been doing microdoses for about the past month, and while I didn't start my journey with a concrete symptom to treat, I can definitely attest to the somewhat profound mood lifting that comes with microdosing. :tripping:

SWIM :smirk: was prescribed a drug derived from the Ergot fungus for an inoperable growth in her brain that caused occasional headache/migraines. Apparently, Ergotamine "works by narrowing the blood vessels around the brain". And is extremely dangerous in overdose.

Whereas psilocin works...indicate regions of the brain with significant decreases in arterial blood flow and blood-oxygen levels following psilocybin administration."

I know which of the two drugs I would prefer to dose with.

Migraines have something to do with serotonin in your brain. Ssri's reduce mine greatly and the meds you usually get prescribed are serotonin agonists, so in theory it should work.

This is already being studied in a scientific context as it applies to "cluster migraines". It appears that, following a single sub-active dose, sufferers can be free of migraines for at least several weeks, and in some cases several months!

Yes psilocybine looks a lot like common ant migraine drugs.

Common older style migraine treatment: Ergotamines contain the 4-substituted indole structure like psilocybine and LSD.

Newer migraine treatments are triptanes they are 3-substituted indoles like Serotonine.

So psilocybin for sure works on the same receptors as all those.

Anyway.. this was just my welcoming thread. i will report for sure about both.
My migraine experiments as well as about my growing project.

A friend who suffered from a lifetime of chronic migraines found complete relief in microdosing psilocybin cubensis, that's my anecdote. As in, they went from completely debilitating and daily, to non-existent.

A friend suffered really bad cluster headaches for years.

He tried all the usual cures, oxygen tanks, morphine etc, all to no avail.

Around ten years ago he tripped on a large amount of Psilocybe tampanensis truffles.

He never had another headache for six years.

If he feels an episode coming on he takes 10-15 Liberty caps.


Would the smaller dose have had the same long lasting effect as the large dose?


What he knows is..no more writhing around on the floor reaching for the tank on morphine.

What is considered a micro-dose of psilocybin?  less than half a gram?

A microdose is a dose that is just a little below the psychoactive dose.
With my liberty caps for example if i take 150mg.  i can still feel it. It feels like a trip is starting but it does not go further.

So the Microdose here is 100mg. I can go to work and have no limitation at all drive car and really no limutation at anything I do. 

Usually if you are microdosing you can/shopuld not do it every day. The classical approch is
day 1 - dose
day 2 - wait
day 3 - wait
day 4 - dose
to keep it an same weekdays I do:
Dose on Sunday and Wednesday.

Thanks for the info.  I have a family member that suffers from migraines and is at the point of willing to try any remedies.  It's sad and if micro dosing has benefits towards that I think im going to look into it further.

I'm having a migraine right now. I breathe into a paper bag at the first sign of one. I don't know what that does but it keeps the pain down and usually prevents me from vomiting. Breathing into a paper bag is my remedy (and now that I've gotten over the worst of it I am smoking some weed and I feel good).
