Which drug do you think is best for a first time drug user

So just like the title says. What drug do you think people who just want to try a drug or want to start trying drugs should take first? Assume they've done nothing harder hitting than caffeine. And this doesn't necessarily have to be the only drug they try in their lives just their first one. Also assume that they'll research anything you suggest to them beforehand.

Most people seem to start with either alcohol or cannabis but I don't think it should be done this way by the majority of people tbh.. I think Mushrooms would be a much better first drug for most people than either of those. Just feels more real and more positive, more like some "life shit" if you know what I mean. I can't officially say whether DMT would be a good first drug or not since I've never done it but you can take such a small amount of it and only have a mild experience that lasts 2 or 3 minutes tops from what it sounds like. I just think somewhat odd and less-essential states of consciousness like alcohol and weed can sort of give the wrong idea to people about what drugs and alterations are all about.

Your suggestion can be anything; everything from heroin, xanax and acid to coca leaves or kratom. I'm curious as to what this community thinks.

No. No mushrooms isn't a good starter drug.


Weed and alcohol are better because they're easier to manage and the come down is relatively quick. It's a good way to test how someone will handle being high.



Setting someone in a rocketship when they've never been in a car isn't a good idea imo.

We had a friend who never tried any drugs and gave him shrooms and he had a positive experience, he said they made him feel "like a genius". And another friend who had not even smoked pot, took MDMA with a girlfriend and he had a great time also. He told me, he could understand why people took drugs now, but for him it was a one time experience. I like the answer best for a first time drug weed though for the reason to steer people away from alcohol which I consider to be worse.

You're acting like weed or alcohol would somehow prepare someone for mushrooms..

If mushrooms is a rocketship then weed or booze wouldn't even be any kind of vehicle. You didn't even say which drug you think is best, you just defended the tradition of alcohol and weed.

But why??? I don't get it...

I mean I kinda get weed but alcohol? Someone is down to try any drug out there and you tell them to start with alcohol? I am very surprised by the answers I'm getting here. I did not expect any of this.

I wouldn't even suggest alcohol as a drug to people let alone their first drug. It's not a drug I would find myself recommending to other people. I find that incredibly strange. I would only assume someone who's a big fan of alcohol to do something like that.

Lol is this meant to gather opinions, or to persuade other people that psychedelics are the best starting choice?

Weed and alcohol are the most common starter drugs for a reason, because it's everywhere and they tend to give an experience that doesn't take people too far out of their comfort zone. Not always the case..but it's usually the case. I know you say you haven't tried DMT, but the fact that you even brought it up as a possible option because a mild dose would last just a few minutes is still hilarious to me :lol: A threshold DMT dose is still miles ahead of having some beers or a couple tokes from a joint.

depends.  weed often time doesn't do anything to a first time user.  I think shrooms would be a good first drug to use.  the false confidence of alcohol I think makes it a bad choice, and is why alcohol can be so addictive.  drugs that make you feel like superman typically have a downward spiral effect on the user with an addictive personality

I am not trying to change your opinion I am just trying to understand peoples' opinions. I mean honestly you could have said almost any other drug and I wouldn't have questioned it but alcohol just really throws me off. I'm just really surprised right now, I didn't expect anyone to say alcohol so I'm just trying to figure out why because I can't even imagine one good reason for booze being a first:shrug:

I disagree. It's because they're everywhere and it's because they have the least amount of propaganda and fear mongering surrounding them not because it doesn't "take people too far out of their comfort zone". There's plenty of drugs that are even more in your comfort zone than those two. I just think they're both really bad representations of what drugs in general feel like because all the other ones out there feel completely different from them like not even comparable. I think the reason most people think drugs are junk is because they've only given alcohol and weed a shot. I just find them to be very unique states of mind, so unique that first timers should probably avoid them but that's just my opinion. They are not the least alarming states of mind is my position.

What? How ... How on earth could it be? Btw I've heard what I've said get said about DMT by people who have done it. They say a low dose of DMT is the best drug for someone who's never done anything before.

I don't know what the fuck they're talking about it then, but I'm guessing the people who said that are the "enlightened psychonaut" types because I used to do a lot of DMT and I've seen peoples' expectations be completely blown apart by just small amounts of the stuff, and these weren't first time drug users.

And I mentioned alcohol because when I was young and first experimenting, kids would steal some alcohol from their parents' cabinet or get it from their irresponsible older siblings and the night would consist of getting a little rowdy and maybe a couple kids would throw up and go to sleep or something like that, but it wouldn't become such a "real" or very altering experience like psychedelics would cause. So since you want to decide the circumstances and talk about low dose DMT, what do you think about low dose alcohol? You don't think that would be more tolerable for first timers? I mean if those people are saying that based off the short duration, why not low dose cocaine, low dose nitrous, etc? I think less reality warping is better than shorter duration for first timers, in general.

Ok well that claim is completely contradictory to virtually every anecdote of low dose DMT out there.

I just think any dose of alcohol to someone who's never done drugs before is weird... Like not in an intolerable way but just like...why first? That's my question.

Just why? It's such a random..drug. Like really? Someone wants to try a drug; any drug and you recommend a central nervous system depressant? Lol am I just the only person who finds that bizarre? Like they're about to have their first real alteration of consciousness and someone's like "uh yea take this inebriating central nervous system depressant" it's just....odd.

Like that's as random as recommending Ketamine or something to a first time drug user. I just don't get the point at all.
