River sand I have found at Lowes as well as Home Depot, in 1 pound bags i believe.

I've never ever used any anti-fungal soaks for any cacti, or any seed, germination. Everything i've read about loph's says you should use an anti-fungal agent but i never have and had success. I suspect the aztekium hype is more than it seems. But you are braver than I because it has kept me away.

My advice would be to grow Aztekium as you have successfully grown Lophophora. I've grown a variety of cacti from seed, including Lophophora, Astrophytum, Ferocactus, Trichocereus, Melocactus, Mammillaria, and Notocactus, and haven't had any problems giving them all roughly the same treatment. After a year or two I expect to start treating them differently.

I try to make my mixes mostly sand or VERY sandy with some organic matter in it, hand full of peat moss or so or even some soil.

I find the sandiest soils to best germination mixtures.
