help me save a beautiful endangered aztekium hittoni

Hello, i have a 2cm across aztekium and it got root rot. the entire roots desintegrated just leaving the plain cactus button, the part were the roots join the base of the plants now has exposed core wich now looks like it has callused

What medium are they growing in?

These cacti grow in the wild in pure gypsum and is not reccomended for the novice grower. This may be your problem either the first, latter, or both  :grin:.

I'd suggest cutting it back a little, letting it callous and then replant it in a pure gypsum medium, it likes it best in a greenhouse or in a window sill.

hummm well actually i got it from a greenhouse, but they gave me the plain cactus withoput roots, whitout anything

so, it is a undernursed cacti, Im asking how can i make it start to root again, or should i graft it=????

cut it back a bit at the base, allow it to callous over, and replant it in pure gypsum, but i'd suggest adding some sand.

Then treat it like you would any other cactus, that you're waiting to root.
