Laying in a dark room with music...

I'm just wondering how many people have done this, and if it brings out anything in the trip.

The next time I trip, I really wanna just lay in my room with the lights off (my walls are painted black, so it gets pitch black in here) and put some music on. I think it would be neat :laugh:

It's amazing to close your eyes in a dark room and listen to some house or soft techno music... The colors you will see are amazing and the images in my mind were dancing to the music.. Kind of like my brain had its own windows visualization...

And then my friend scared the shit out of me by making a loud noise on the door and i went running scared out of the dark like something was watcheing me and about to attack.. lol

It should be a required trip for any psychedelian to do once in his life.

It's a blast, it brings out your imagination like nothing else. It is extremely introspective, it's extremely colorful, and the music opens up more than you think sound could. You shut off your sense of vision and your imagination and ears make up for it.
Get a nice pillow, maybe a ball to squeeze, some headphones or a good pair of well-placed speakers, put on some Shpongle, Boards of Canada, etc. and follow the shrooms

When I ate 4g by myself I couldn't tell the difference between having my eyes open or closed. Jimi was weaving beautiful audio paintings across my entire field of perception. It is my favorite way to indulge by far. There are no distractions from your mind. Usually when I am with friends they talk or we end up doing things. That is fun but if you really want to experience what mushrooms have to offer I recommend trying them in the dark by yourself. Silence is weird because I heard music anyway. IMO music was way more fun though.

P.S. I listen to headphones because of the surround effect. I don't have 5.1 so I can't compare headphones to speakers.

somebody knocking on my door on the peak...
That sweet paranoia ...  :blush:

I pulled all the blankets of my bed; grabbed some magazines and covered myself in them in the corner of my room.
But of course, that guy kept knocking harder; by the time he left; I was ready to call the cops ...  :cool:  (Damn, I would have made quite a fool out of myself: "There someone here ... Knocking on my door!  :ooo:" )

when i did this, i didn't see any visuals when my eyes were open but when closed i saw some, not very clear or free flowing.

i was looking at some glow in the dark stickers on my roof, they started shaking really strongly, kind of like when you get hardcore eye wobbles on mdma.

Last time i did 6 grams, i layed in my bed in the dark for maybe 2 hours, half of it while listening to music. The music (i was listening to aphex twin) was damn amazing. I had remembered so many songs in their entirity and i could see great visuals (actually i wouldn't call them visuals, because i was deeply involved in it). It's quite confusing in the dark though, but a great experience. Also betters your chance of ego-loss. I'll post more later, peace

ya, thats fun......sometime you might want to try something else. i like to do this every once in a while, freaks me out sometimes.


sit in a dark room, completly dark. shut off all the lights in the house if you have to, or at least cram a towell in the crack of your door so no light can come in. lay on your bed, put on some good headphones and lay there.....in the silence, with NO music :grin:

i never knew silence could be so loud :thumbup:

What do you plan on trupping on??
Me and a friend of mine while tripping on LSD just laid in the dark listening to music for a good half of the trip,
it was awesome.  Just make sure you got some good music going and a cionstant line up of it. :smile:

I spend most of my trips in the dark with an ecclectic mix of music in the background. Lots of dark ambient, jam, hiphop, jazz, and idm. Around 3/4 of the way through the peak I'll turn the music off and let my mind go.

mushrooms visuals are so different in the dark and in the light...Peak with the lights closed, so colorful and infinitly detailed fractals come to you...

I always trip in the dark. With the lights on I get nervous and unconfortable...

Try the fog.....never again. Went to the forest in the dark last night in the fog and it fucked with me. Prolly cause my friend cant hang with Parabol(a) while tripping, so I got dragged down as well. Everyone needs a little hell realm experience once in a while. Leary said 1/5 of his trips were hell realm trips. If you watch the sun come up while peaking its not as good as watching the sun set, because it goes into the dark and makes for an awesome trip. The dark/fog daytime, makes for a blank background and the music activates the, as orangeboy put it, a windows visulization type trip. Parabola and Reflection are the ultimate darkroom/full moon songs. Oh and Shpongle too!!Just my 2 cents.

Last time i did shrooms i went in a dark room and listened to pink floyd. I think out of my four trips, this was the most amazing one, and i only ate 1.5 grams. Tripping this way really makes all totality of the magic of shrooms 'become' your conscious. Also, silence is fuckin trippy, maybe too trippy....no nevermind, its great

Well, I wasn't in a room, and it wasn't dark, but...

I had dropped ten drops with a group for a friends birthday. We were climbing some boulders/cliffs near the ocean when I peaked. A little while later we climbed up the hills in to a forest. I lay down amongst my covorting companions and stared up at the bright sky through the trees. I looked one way and saw someone doing something with an odd pipe (straight, iron, ceremonial east indian), and asked, 'What ya got there?' Before he had much time to respond I looked at the birthday boy, who was enjoying a new CD player with headphones he had gotten special for the trip, and asked, 'What ya listening too?' Next thing I know the friend with the pipe is putting the business end in my mouth, saying, 'Tobacco and hash', and lighting me up while the b-day boy is slipping silent earphones over my ears. Big toke, then Thomas Dolby's Hyperactive comes blasting in. Bam!! Gone!! Quite the ride.

Tripping in a completely dark room with music is the best way to do it! I had one of my best times tripping doing this. It almost seemed to make the trip more intense for me.
I was listening to some good tribal/psy and ended up being in the middle of the woods(or so I thought I was), sitting in the distance watching black shadows chanting and dancing around a fire. It was crazy and I loved it! I would do it again a hundred times over.  :smile:

I was thinking of in the darkness of my bedroom tonight. The only problem is my mother and sister will be in the house and the last time i triped i fell of my bed a few times. I really need to get a flat or something soon.

Is it worth it or should i just wait till day light when they will be out of the house? It will only be the other half of those truffles from last month.

day or dark is fine. some people like to appreciate nature and be able to actually see objects when they trip. i like either. i personally really like it dark with a loud ass subwoofer listening to trance or house, relly makes me feel the music. just me though

No kidding...I was all set to do this with 5g's but for some reason that my sober mind can't perceive, I ended up inviting my trip sitters into my "magical area" and then I never did it.

it's insane how much darkness/not being able to see intensifies a trip ! a couple trips ago i was just starin at the TV with my headphones on listenin to DJ Tiesto - Live @ Innercity Amsterdam(awesome), and i closed my eyes and buried my face in the pillow(dunno why lol), and holy CRAP ! the music got 10x louder and more in your face(in my ears, really lol), the patterns i was seein with my eyes open got 100x more brilliant and bright(open eyes = hazy neon patterns, closed eyes = the brightest damn paint ever patterns)...darkness rocks trippin, come to think of it, i've never tripped in the light =P minus turnin the light on for a minute or 2 to find somethin
