Thing should have been dead by now. This is very odd behavior for a hurricane. Anyway, stay safe, mate. How flooded is your area from earlier?

flooding is receding a lot. the rain is supposed to be going steadily all night and all day tomorrow but it doesnt seem like it is going to be as heavy as it was last night

Right now my streets are clear but I'm about to get hammered in an hour and 20 mins or so. I'm safe, I really doubt the water is going to be able to get into my house and shit. Even if it dumps an extra foot or two rain beyond what they predict, I really doubt it will even hit the first step of my house.

yeah, I think the worst is over. as long as it doesnt dump ~20" in <12hrs like it did last night I think most of the residences will be okay. they are saying maybe another 20" but its looking like that is going to be over a much longer period of time. ground saturation is basically irrelevant since there is very little exposed ground anyway. the drainage infrastructure here is pretty decent.

Well. Get some sand bangs if this shit ever happens again. It helps a lot. Hopefully, it won't happen again though. Jesus. Death toll is up to 5 now. RIP.

this is supposed to be a 500 year flood so hopefully it doesnt happen for a long time. I am not sure that a 500 year flood is still a 500 year flood anymore, though. something about climate change or whatever

It's raining 3" an hour in the western part of Houston and the shield of rain looks worse than last night.

It's really bad over here guys. My sister and I are lucky cause there's no flooding in our neighborhood. But barley one mile north and one mile south the roads are closed and flooded. My cousin just called and they're in a panic because the water is coming into the garage. My sister just said that my dad is walking thru water in his house. I keep thinking I need to get to my jeep and go check on them. And the rain just keeps coming. My friend just sent a photo of water in his 1 story apartment complex. I'm starting to get really worried. It just keeps getting worse

Is there any area close enough to them where they can get to higher ground?

The Gulf Coast, Florida, and NYC are going underwater, permanently.

But that was based on the possible number of natural disasters we might have. So maybe not as quickly.

It'll be basically uninhabitable for human life well before it's completely underwater

Managing the rising sea levels is already becoming financially unrealistic

Houston and New Orleans lol good luck

We've known about man-made global warming for years

It's on donkey kong

It already feels like it's getting there. The air so disgustingly congested. Ugh.

Not quiet that easy. They ither would need a lifted truck or boat to get down the road. My jeep is lifted and no snorkel. So that means I can take water on till about the hood so long as no water goes down the intake. Problem is, I gotta get to my jeep first which is in storage. If the roads are flooded, I might have to kayak to get to it. Hoping the water isn't insane enough to drown my jeep. Just gotta play it safe. I don't think they're gonna evacuate just yet,  but if it keeps up like this for another day or so, they might have to be rescued

You have to watch out for power lines too. So if the water keeps rising, I'd say call for help. Especially, if they're in a one floor home. If the water level in their house is above their knees, then I wouldn't walk out of the house into that stuff... BECAUSE of power lines. Call for help. Just in case.

And no attics.

I saw an interview with a woman that said when she saw an alligator in her apartment building she knew it was time to evacuate.

The woman standing next to her just sorta rolled her eyes, lol.
