(Reuters) - Arkema 's North America chief executive said on Wednesday the company has no way of preventing chemicals from catching fire or exploding at its heavily flooded plant in Crosby, Texas.

The company evacuated remaining workers on Tuesday and Harris County ordered the evacuation of residents in a 1.5-mile(2.4-km) radius of the plant that makes organic chemicals.

Richard Rowe, who is chief executive of the company's North America unit, told reporters the company expects chemicals on site to catch fire or explode within the next six days. He said the company has no way to prevent a fire or potential explosion near the plant that is swamped by about six feet (1.83 m) of water.

My state is fucking awesome.. There's a lot of people on social media and shit trolling and saying we deserve this for not helping with sandy, or because of trump, or because refineries are what is creating global warming leading to these storms or any number of stupid fucking reasons.. which has been pissing me off, but I keep seeing shit like this. To put in perspective the fact that less than 1/6 people have flood insurance... after driving around, it looks to me like less than 1/6 residences got flooded. The media is just showing you the worst of the worst. So there is that.

My car club threw together a bunch of money and one of the guys will be coming down from Phoenix with a 2 car closed off trailer full of supplies on Friday. Not much, but it should help out at least a few people.

A lot of people from my neck of the neighborhood have gone over there to help. I'm sorry I'm not there. Wish I could be, but I can't. Hope you people stay safe. Shroomslip, I would leave now if I was you. Just in case. Don't take any chances and don't wait. If it really is that bad over there, then leave. You can replace your everyday gadgets and things, but you can't replace lives. So go.

Nah we're fine, our streets are pretty much clear for the most part right now.. At least around my area.. My wife just came back from a friend's house.. I mean there's no reason for to leave anyways..

I haven't left the house at all since day 1.. My wife has been the one going out and shit.. My car is kinda fucked up and halfway taken apart, it's also up on ramps currently.. I don't really leave the house much these days. Me and my wife's roles are basically reversed, and have been for a long time. She's much more employable than I am. I take care of the kid, dogs, house work, cooking and all that stuff. Should be changing in the the not so distant future though, and I'll be making a lot more than she does currently. Then we can finally move out of this fucking place.

EDIT: well I did leave technically but not far.. I just went a couple blocks down to check the overpass and make sure we could leave if we needed to.. Other than that, haven't left my property.
