Well good luck man sounds like you have your mind made up. If its just spores I bet they just fine your ass. Might want to talk to a Japanese lawyer, but I don't really know how their legal system works there. I guess you could always say they are edible prints. Doubt they are going to grow them out for proof.

Pretty much what he said. Above all deny that the prints were intended for cultivation regardless of whether or not you admit they're from an active species. Microscopy or decoration either one is a reasonable excuse so long as they don't have any solid evidence of cultivation.

It's not full proof but I imagine if they're being nice and patient like that, it means they don't have much. They probably want to try and get you to talk yourself into a charge, so be careful when you do talk to them. I've had a lot of experience with law enforcement unfortunately.. If they have something more concrete on you, they tend to be a lot less "nice". They'll threaten your family or something with legal charges if you don't get your ass back there now.

Of course things could be different in Japan from the US but that seems to be something more universal IMO. A cop wanting to talk you into charges who happens to come by when you're out of town or not at home or whatever is not going to be a dick or do anything more to scare you away (if the thought of having to talk to a cop when you know you've done something illegal doesn't send you running already).

Of course he speaks japanese, come on.

I doubt they will do much over some old spores. How do they know it isn't some commercially grown type you buy in the grocery store? What they were looking for was actual shrooms and or a grow setup. Then you would be in trouble. Say nothing, get a good lawyer and pay the fine.

None of his problems would have occurred if he had decided to not do drugs. So yes he did put drugs over his own family very sad.

All they have on him is some old spores. THey may see in his laptop that he ordered from a place known to sell active spores but are the spores they found active? You can't tell just by looking at them, are they going to grow them out and test? Might but probably not. OP knows the system over there better than we do, probably apologize, plead to ordering and pay a fine. Or plead to a lesser misdemeanor with a good lawyer. Hell the owner of mt gox only spent less than a year I think and then they let him go and he stole millions. A few spores are not going to put him away.
