Koh Samui compared to Golden Teacher (colonization pics)

Tried to take as best pics as I could sorry they are not top quality as we are all aware it is tough to get focus in those cups.. There is some discoloration and blur but to the eye the myc looks very white and healthy in all of the cups.

What I am showing is the difference between growth in a Golden Teacher MS to agar transfer... and a Koh Samui tissue to agar transfers. These transfers took place on the same day for both GT and the Koh so they both had equal time to do their thing in the same environment.

First I grew out a Koh Samui on PF cake - then transferred a bit of the tissue between the stem and cap onto one of Pasty's plates.

I also dropped some spore of GT onto an AGAR plate and let that grow out - taking 2 transfers from it as well.


1.Original tissue to Agar - Koh Samui (Took transfer A and B from this)

Now, this is a GT MS spore to agar - I do not have original parent as I threw that colonized plate into a rye bag the other day, however I do have transfer A and B to show below. I could not get a pic from the top like the others, too much condensation.

I have no idea how either perform yet - but on colonization alone Koh seems to be kicking the GT MS's ass.

Dont read too much into the different looks, depending on the indvidual spore DNA probabl both can have both looks, fuzzy cottony or rhizomorphic - usuually we say a cube is a cube and difference between strains is quite hard to detect - the d´genetic variety on one print is quite huge, and you can have many different strains that perform differently, from the same print, so this might just be a coincidence
