Need help with german translation
    #2428625 - 03/13/04 07:23 PM (20 years, 19 days ago)

My girlfriend is writing a big paper in german for her class and she can't figure out a way to translate these two sentences into german.

By 1854 he was hallucinating and was committed/sent to an asylum. He died at the asylum in 1856 under the care of his wife and the yound Brahms

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bis zum 1854 halluzinierte er und war committed/sent zu einem Asyl. Er starb am Asyl in 1856 unter der Obacht seiner Frau und des yound Brahms.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein

Bis 1854 hatte er Hallucinations und der war am Geisteskrankenhaus festgelegt. Er starb im Geisteskrankenhaus in 1856. Er war unter der Obacht seiner Frau und dem jungen Brahms.

This is what i came up with, i took german for 5 years in high school and spent time in germany austria and switzerland.

Anno would probably be the best translator.

I've ived there (germany) for the first 8 years of my life and as fas as I am concerned everything is corrected except the beginning,
"Bis (zum)...", Which means untill and not by. I've gotten kinda rusty on the language myself but from what I remember its eather "Bei" or "dabei" or maybe something completely differant for that matter... this is what I dugged out from my smoked out memory.
