Often salvia likes anywhere from 60-75% humidity, it can be trained to live in house humidity, but the humidity levels of a house differ from house to house depending on the type of heating and quality of insultation and windows and such.

To achieve a high humidity environment is to contruct a humidity tent for your plant.

Could I seal plastic around an entire room so that I could walk around in the humidity tent, greenhouse style?

Perhaps a five foot individual potted salvia plant sized tent would be easier suited in my living room.

I've found that humidity isn't really a big issue once you get your plant accustomed to it's environment. I spray my plant down every morning with a spray bottle or whenever I get a chance. I probably spray it about once or twice a day. I live in a pretty dry climate and my plant's still doing pretty well.

I've had some growth problems, but I attribute it to my poor choice of soil and the winter cold. Once spring comes around and I transplant it, it should take off.

I grow mine in a room that gets plenty of sunlight and has the hv/ac vent closed. I mist about 2-3 a day. I went on a 4 day vacation they only went two full days without any mistings. They were fine when I got back. It took her about 2-3 weeks at least before she got used to being inside. Once they get used to where they are they can be acclimated to direct sunlight. Oh yeah on nice days make sure to take them outside because their stems get spindly in the absense of wind. Keeping a fan on them occasionally isn't a bad idea either but you probably want to let them get acclimated first. And just so it will be said, Greenstranger is the shit!

I've never humidified. The worst problem I've had is with cold - I've been away for two months, leaving my parents to tend my plants, and they turned off the heating in my room to save energy :frown:.
Effects looked similar to too much light - dead patches on leaves, leaves falling...
They're beginning to recover now though.
