The issue is about attacking other dogs, pitbulls rarely attack humans. People go to the hospital all of the time for other breeds attacking them. And dogs have been co-existing with humans for tens of thousands of years.

Same. Every single time "the dog just snapped" if there is video or I witnessed it there was warnings that the dog was uncomfortable or agitated and people ignored or were oblivious to the signs.

Again I think everyone should study dog behavior in grade school. At least so far is how to recognize, avoid or defend against an aggressive dog.

Only time I've seen or heard of a dog inexplicably snapping is when it's old and senile or has been suffering and in pain. Which isn't really inexplicable.
My great grandma got pretty senile and she beat the nurses with her walking cane for no reason.

Is that so, then why is there an organization specifically for victims of pit bull attacks?

http://www.nationalpitbullvictimawareness.org

This is the map solely of media reports on pit bull bites that resulted in human deaths.

This is what they say

Quote:
There are more than 25 media reports of pit bull attacks on people per week, and one death every 13 days.
By comparison, there are approximately 15 shark attacks on people per year in the United States, with one death every two years.
Pit bull attacks are rarely “dog bites”. Most attacks require hospitalization.
Although they represent only 4.5% of dogs in America, pit bulls killed 64.4% of 360 Americans who died as a result of a dog bite injury between 2005-2015, compared to Rottweilers at 11.4% and German Shepherds at 3.6%.

In this particular article, it says the couple was watching TV and the dog was startled by the mother coughing. It then proceeded to bite the baby's head and kill it.

Don't know how it could go from relaxed to agitated that fast in the span of a second.

That's not a pitbull.

All of their sources go to the same anti-pitbull website.  No-doubt pitbulls are historically aggressive, I'm just saying they shouldn't be banned.

I also don't believe that story in the slightest.  Sounds like the baby was left unattended with the dog, probably agitated it, and the dog attacked it.

Other links said it was a staffordshire terrier mix. It's a mix, so it might not look like a pit.

A 3 day old baby agitated it? lol...

You do realize newborn babies can't move or grab things or even sit up straight, right? Babies can't even do anything except lie there and cry for like 6 months.

So exactly how could a 3 day old baby have possibly agitated a dog, I wonder?

Well you should never have a child that young around an animal without a leash.

Again tho, that can happen with any dog. I remember when my family dog, a lab mix (he was nearly pure black lab) met a hippie for the first time. Her dreads, her bright tiedye shirt contrasting with her black fingernails freaked him all the fuck out. He growled and barked and refused to let her get through the door way.

Same dog also raised fur and crouched and growled at that same senile great grandmother because he knew something was wrong with her, that she acted extremely different than any other person he had ever seen.

Again, it's ignorance of their behavior. I said earlier (maybe not in this thread) that people should be trained and certified in order to own a dog over so many pounds.

Ok, so not a pitbull?  Mixed with what?  It's a mutt.

It has no details what so ever.  Most likely either a fake news story propagated by anti pit fucks, or parents trying to cover up the fact they left their child unattended.

And yes, I've been around a lot of babies.  Why was a 3 day old baby within biting distance of a dog?  Just uncomfortable and strange body language can agitate any dog.

Dogs are dogs. They have teeth. They bite.

A Staffordshire Terrier is a pitbull. It's a pitbull mix.

You never explained exactly how a 3 day old baby agitated the dog. It's not like it was capable of grabbing its tail or anything.

My dog hates police officers, tried to almost bite one. Luckily she's only 5lbs or that story could have turned out very differently for her.

My weim hates cops with a passion. Any flashing lights, or uniformed people instantly make his hair go up.  I refuse to step out of my car when my dogs in it so I can keep him restrained, no cop will tell me otherwise or he can shoot us both.  I've had many instances where a cop will seriously ask me "Do you think you could calm your dog down and step out to talk to me?"  Hell no.

Because it was strange behavior.

The dog may not have even recognized it as a human being, much less a human being doing relatively normal human being things.

The biggest mistake people make in training dogs is assuming they see the world like we do and know all the things we do.

I clearly stated just body language can agitate a dog, the picture is not a pure bred pitbull, the article gives no detail.  That was 100% the parents negligent fault. If you are irresponsible enough to have a dog within biting distance of a baby and not be able to tell the signs of an agitated animal, then you shouldnt have dogs or children.

Obviously the dog was agitated  it bit the baby.

So now you're saying pitbulls are dangerous

According to their story they weren't left alone, they were all in the same room
