5 gram psilocybe cubensis trip report
The mushrooms were prepared in a lemon and chamomile tea, and strained into a glass. I drank the tea around 8 AM, having not eaten since the night before.
Setting: Alone in a large dark bedroom, only light coming from lamp on nightstand. Entire wall to the left of the bed is a mirror which plays a role in the trip. This is my first time with a dose like this, my only other mushroom trip was 2.5 grams
0:15- Body high begins, visuals start coming in, depth perception is altered, and there is breathing of objects.
0:30-Visuals get intense, fractals encompassing my visual field. Alien architecture appearing on walls and behind closed eyes. It was around this point where it really became a trip. As the effects began to intensify, I looked at my ceiling, and all my emotions visually projected onto the ceiling. The side of the room that was lit by the lamp seemed to represent the positive emotions I have, and the dark side represented negativity. I heard a voice crystal clear. It said "pick one" I was aware that it would probably be a good idea to go with the light, but something intrigued me about the darkness, I physically moved my body to the dark side of the room, and focused my attention on it.
0:45-At this point, the trip turned into possibly the worst thing I've ever gone through. I will try my hardest to explain just how horrifying it was. I was in the ultimate state of pure negativity. I don’t know where it was coming from, but I felt like I had fucked myself over permanently. I felt this absolutely gut-wrenching sense of eternal doom. I kept hearing these ridiculously loud voices from inside my own head. There was one very distinct voice that kept saying random shit like "SHUT THE FUCK UP" "PICK IT UP" "FIND IT" "5 FUCKING GRAMS?!" I walk into my bathroom, BEGGING for it to stop. I was on the floor in the most vulnerable, emotionally destroyed state I've ever been in, crying, going "please just stop, why is this happening" things like that. Time dissolution was straight up unfair at this point. I would go through what felt like an extremely long time of pure terror, and I'd pick up my phone and see that one minute had gone by. At this point in the trip the visuals were insane, literally everything in my visual field was taken over by colorful, three dimensional fractal geometry, along with all the other typical visual effects of a high dose of psychedelics. Very difficult to explain to someone who hasn’t seen it themselves.
1:30-I walked into another room and called my dog in and I just laid there with him, he could tell I was going through something and he really helped me out and things slowly got so much better. The trip suddenly became absolutely blissful. I began smiling very wide, laughing at the 3 dimensional fractal visual hallucinations that were tearing reality apart in every which way. I begin crying tears of joy. It was amazing. During this euphoric state, sometimes that one voice yelling previously would try and re-enter my consciousness, and I just laughed it off. I started thanking my dog over and over again for helping me out like that. I also learned that changing setting is great for a bad trip. I've never been someone who really shows emotion, I often suppress things, but those mushrooms really forced me to go through and experience the deepest possible version of every emotion on the spectrum.
2:30-After the emotional rollercoaster, the trip became a more philosophical one. I went back into the original tripping room and stared into the mirror, watching myself get immersed in visuals, streams of code would run up and down my skin, and my facial features would constantly move around to make me look just like a bunch of different people. One other very bizarre thing I experienced was if I stared at my arm or any part of my body, I began to have what seemed like XRay vision, it looked like I was seeing right through my flesh, I know this wasn't really happening but it seemed so real. The rest of the trip I spent a lot of time contemplating human consciousness and evolution. Unfortunately I just can't piece together the conclusions I came to at that point. I just didn't bring much back with me. I was saying things about a “multi-dimensional library containing all human experience” (I later found out this is what we call the Akashic Records) at the time I was pretty sure I had discovered the meaning of life, but I had a hard time bringing everything back into this reality. There was one point where I had been sitting there in front of the mirror, just thinking, and tripping balls. And I look up at the mirror, and as I begin to say this sentence out loud, the visuals began to distort my face to resemble and early-human type creature, I said "THE PURPOSE OF EXISTENCE FOR EVERYTHING IN THIS ANIMAL KINGDOM IS..." and sober me just can't remember the rest. But I swear it was true. I wish I could convey all of the thoughts and conclusions I had during this trip but I just can't piece together the puzzle right now. Maybe it will come back to me.
3:30 I really began coming down at this point, the visuals slowly subsided over the course of the next 30 minutes, and reality started coming back piece by piece. I was fully baseline by around the 4 and a half hour mark. Short trip because it was prepared in tea. So in summary, I was thrown through the entire spectrum of human emotion, and I discovered our purpose as animals in this physical reality (and soon forgot). I would consider this a level 4 trip .
