Well I'm sure a million others will post the same thing... but I'm first! Listen to them live, it blows away the studio recordings in my opinion. Sure, perhaps some of the songs might seem a bit drawn-out live, but take of a listen to, for instance, any show from May 1977 (or just wait for the next Shroomery pics to come out). You can download live stuff of theirs at www.gdlive.com - I would highly recommend it. I've never been a great fan of the Dead in studio format (although Blues for Allah and Terrapin Station... oh yeah and Workingman's Dead... well OK you get the point, they sound better live!)

Check some more out... no guarantees but I dig 'em.

I think if you read the pub with any consistency you will eventually get into the grateful dead. Your story pretty much parallells mine and you see lots of first time listeners posting...Good times  :thumbup: :gd_icon:
