Pink
    #2391278 - 03/01/04 12:58 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

Why is pink considered a feminine color?
Who decided what a color should express!?

Those thoughts just popped into my mind the other day.

Peace =) :mushroom2:

OK...here's my present understanding of the concept:

"Blue Collar" = Working class or more precisely 'Service orientated'...That's why men get baby-Blue...to get them used to 'service'. (wear blue-jeans and you wont get hassled in public because you're performing a service such as meter-reading)

Yellow is Caution...Red is Passion...Dark blue is Law.

So...if red is passion then pink is Romance?

(let's see...Dark Blue/Law...light blue/service...Red/Passion...Pink...something to be coveted?)

Do you ever get the feeling you're being used?

Yes; I don't know if it is conscious in most people tho; Do we choose our clothes to fit our mood? or the effect we want to impart, and if we are conscious of the subtlety does that mean we can overide the effect imparted by the color?

(uh-oh; Trouble in Paradise)

Dude my favorite color is pink. Like natural pink not hot pink or bright pink. A tanish/pink almost. Like the color of a girls skin, etc...
some colors of my skin are what i like too..
its a very natural color.

red activates and draws attention
blue cools and relaxes
green heals andrevitalizes
yellow enriches the emotions
brown is grounding
and...pink is the color of love

karen kingston wrote that in a feng shui book i have.

thats all prety close to what i would have said too. all except yellow, i dunno what id say yellow is good for.

it seems like its more widely accepted for girls to show love than it is for guys, maybe thats why its so feminine.

It is the same reason why the put red light for stop and green for go in the trafic lights. In our lifetime, we inevitably relate some things with colors. Red is the color of blood, which in turn reminds us of death and sorrow and green the color of grass fields and nice valleys which is generally a relatively happy situation to be in and also subconciously pushes you to act, as red does of course. That is why they choose these colors for the trafic lights. Maybe if our blood was blue, we would have blue light for stop, which I wouldn't like because I am a big fan of blue, and it would ruin it I think. Also blue reminds us of the sky and how beautifull it is,depending on where you live of course, and brings us calm and tranquillity. We wouldn't want people to daydream when they should act quickly!!!

Also, "Pink is the color of passion, 'cause today it just goes with the fashion aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa",.......
....nice song from aerosmith...

Are we born into this world with a prefixed understanding of colors?

Like red means danger?! Or blue is calm?
Or is this something we learn, by assosciation, and our environment?!

pink is so weird.

You take any color and mix it with white and you have "light [color name]"
For example blue and white is light blue.
Green and white is light green ect...

then theres red!

Mix it with white and what do you have?

Light red?

NOPE!

This mixture gets its own special name.

pink.

WTF!?
