Mimosa hostilis
    #2387700 - 02/28/04 10:12 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

hey all, I've been searching all over the internet (including Nans Nook) for a useful cultivation tek of Mimosa hostilis, starting from seeds. Does anyone know of any useful link to point me in the right direction? I'm hoping for a pretty fool-proof tek, cause I tend to kill most plants I try and grow! Any help would be great, thanks!

i think that jeruma preta would be pretty difficult to grow unless youhad a green house...it's a tropical plant and it quite large...it's not like mimosa pudica (the sensitive plant)...you'd actually need a lot of room to grow such a plant. i know that it's fun to grow your own shite, but some times it's just more sensible to buy it from a reputible source....

however, if you're just after it for it's properties, you might want to try p. virdis. there are many sites that sell this plant live, and it can easily be grown in an indoor green house.

If you're after DMT P. viridis would be the way to go for ease of cultivation. But if you have seeds and want to grow them then you can plant t hem about 1/4-/12 inch in potting soi that's well drained and has some sand in it. Plant a pea with it. Because it will innoculate nitrogen fixing bacteria for the mimosa to get fixed nitrogen.

allright well i got these seeds from a trade, and i really want to grow them, so i'm gonna plant them and keep them in my house and hope for the best with some basic plant care... i'm hoping someone who has experience with these will stumble on this thread and offer any advice or informative links for growing... but until then i'll let you know how it goes!

thanks to all who responded

I would scarify them and derminate them in a mixture of damp soil/sand and add a pea innoculant to the soil.
