Yeah, you'll be able to find mushrooms out there. Just go looking.

We are right now approaching the end of our season, so go check out some woody areas and look. Buy Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora, its a great feild guide for central California.

uh yeah, i meant of the active species....i didn't think there were many around...i was always under the impression that you had to travel outside that dry climate of the central valley to find anything worthwile. if you're lucky you may find pan subbs...but i would think that would be it. i don't know if they grow that far south or not.

i know that there are some amazing fungi in central california...but most of the posts on this forum seem to deal with actives...if his inquery were about actives in the fresno area, i was just trying to tell him that he's not reallygoing to be able to find any.  i on the other hand love mushrooms of all types...galerinas are one of my fav's as i've done the most research on them ...they're a pretty little thing...also mycenas are quite intresting as they pop up alsost everywhere.  actives are just a hobby for me...something to do when the season is right...i am always on the look out for a mushroom that i have never seen before, and trying to identify it...after all, isn't that what it is all about.
