Felony Paranoia

I did some searching on the net, and I saw one site that said it was a felony to have schooms in Ohio. I am not talking about selling or distributing either. The site was a little confusing to read.

I did some schrooms back in college. That was years ago. Now I got two kids and a beautiful wife. I started thinking about tripping again, maybe just once a year. I don't want to buy them off the street. I have no contacts with schrooms and I don't want to deal with drug dealers. It makes me feel dirty and criminal. Also, I wouldn't even know what the hell I was buying. I could eat something that could kill me. I think that is dangerous.

So I thought, well I should grow some myself. I got a book about it, and I have been reading up on it on the net. It looks like fun. Then this felony bomb drops on me. I would go to jail, I would lose my right to vote, etc. I thought if I somehow got caught I would get a ticket like a joint or some such thing. Doesn't look like that is the case in Ohio. If anyone knows the definitive answer with a link, please tell me. Like I said, the site I looked at was a little confusing.

I know the chances of getting caught are small if you don't sell and distribute them. But any chance at jail time scares me. I don't think I would last very long if they put me in with violent criminals.

You'd probably be better off picking mushrooms instead. Obviously you'd need to know what you were looking for (do some research), and the people on the 'mushroom hunting' forum can help you with ID's. From what I've heard, police in the US aren't that clued up on shrooms. But then this is only speculation

I am a novice. I have little faith that I could find and indentify the right mushroom, and I am not even sure they are prevalent in Ohio. Kind of sucks because I was getting pumped up about the whole thing.

Yep nothing to special in ohio when it comes to picking your own magic......

While catching that felony is a chance we all take......as you said, if your not distibuting them in any way and you tell NO ONE about your project..chances of getting caught are very slim......

Have you considered doing an outdoor patch? You could get your jars colonized now...then come spring 'plant' them in a good spot outdoors.....this way you dont have that felonious manufacturing setup in your house(except for when getting the initial jars going)......just be carefull the kids dont find em.....

There are no laws in effect when it comes to mushrooms or even spores in the state of OH.  If you have psychoatives, they're illegal, but they're illegal in all of the US :smile:

I have many friends you are like you.  They only trip once or twice a year.  Sometimes on camping trips, sometimes in the privacy of their own homes while everyone is asleep.

My advice to you is simple.

Grow them yourself and tell NO ONE that you're doing it.

This will give you the peace of mind that the mushrooms you have are yours and not bought by someone you don't trust. 

Don't tell anyone, even your wife/family.  If by some chance things do go bad, then only you'll be accused of a crime, not them. 

I suggest you read up on a very popular and easy method of growing called the "PF Tek" found here - http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23593 - You can easily grow enough mushrooms for your own personal use in 4-6 weeks, from start to finish.

There are many people here who can help you. 

Oh, and don't go worrying about OH laws :smile: 
1. Because there's nothing to worry about

Have you looked into research chemicals? These are legal to purchase, though technicaly illegal to consume. Read up on them before taking any. Most of them are fairly safe if your not stupid but a few are on the more toxic side and best avoided. There are both tryptamines and phenethylamines research chemicals. Read up on them at errowind.
