well duh...a black whole is the most massive thing in the universe...not to mention it is a dead star...they often pull off the gasses of nearby stars causing an extremely cool light pattern...every once in a while the gasses streaming into the black hole ignight

There is a black hole in the Cygnus-X1 system which is orbiting around a white supergiant star. It used to be the supergiant's companion start in a binary system before it collapsed into a black hole, and now it is continuously siphoning off the surface layer of the supergiant.

what do u mean duh? this is the first time anyone has ever seen this happen. everything else is just theoretical
there is also a blackhole in the milkyway galaxy, but its only a young tiny one apparently.
-------------------- "A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Al Einstein

There are thousands of black holes in the galaxy.
And that pic isn't a real picture, you know...
No one has ever "seen" a black hole. You can't see one...that's why they're called a "black" hole
But we have seen plenty of other evidence of their existence.

i mean duh, because stars close to black holes have their gasses pulled off of them...the gasses are then pulled into the black hole...it's just as that computerized picture shows...the gasses of stars next to black holes. or pulsars get pulled into their massive gravitational pull.
by the way, there are no "young tiny black holes" they are all black holes...they are a collopsed star...a star with signifigant mass, when it falls back on itself creates a black hole...our sun for example will never create a black hole.

I donno about that... I just spent an hour staring at the sun this afternoon, and now all I see are black holes everywhere?!?

I read somewhere that there is a black hole at the center of every galaxy, and that its mass correlates directly with the mass of the galaxy...
