PE first grow, Qs
    #23445372 - 07/15/16 10:11 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

First PE uncut grow so I'm not too sure what to expect.. but I'm a little worried how they look.

It's multi-spore so I was sure I'd get some weird lookers, but I didn't expect this..

Was there anything I could have done to prevent all those guys from growing upside-down?

Also if I clone one of those upside down ones, would all the clones also grow the same way or is it maybe environmental?

Then this one guy in the back:

He was originally the first pin and biggest.. but seems to have halted growth.
I know this PE Uncut strain often has blue or darker caps, and PE usually fruits slow, but I'm worried he aborted for some reason and can't tell why.
The tub honestly smells great,
Had daily indirect sunlight,
Just started fanning every so often,
My other tub just fruited fine, so I'm just not sure.

Of course time will tell and I learn from experience, but all comments welcome and appreciated.

That's just nuts looking! I think you should keep doing what your doing and keep us posted? Did you case this tub? I like to use a casing layer on my penis envy.

Lol def will do!

And no I didn't case cuz my reg cubes have seemed to do better w/o, especially just for harvest.

Do PE use up more water? That's why you case?

edit* And do you think it would be a good idea to case second flush? Or just try on the next tub?

Just try it next time, oftentimes the first flush of penis envy is very mutant prone.

I see what looks like either verticillium or pseudomonas bacteria. Nice brown spots on those stipes. Technically still edible. Not entirely sure if it's worth salvaging though. Maybe toss the tub outside to reduce the spreading of it.

Yea damn other thread said pseudo too.. I gotta try to toss it soon as possible.

I have spawn ready for another tub, just need to make the sub.

Wondering tho if I should clean my room? Like once I toss the tubs should I wait a few days before spawning next tub? And maybe spray my room with alcohol?

That's not necessary. You need clean spawn. It comes down to your sterile work. Check the second link in Mad's sig.
You're cleaning your cultures up on agar adequately, right?

LOL. Thant looks like a PE first flush. Weird ass little mutants. So, just from the pic I would say your poly fill is too tight. There is visible water droplets on your mycelium. This will usually lead to your tub producing little mycelium balls and my account for the way your fruits are growing. Also, too high co2 content will make them grow close to the surface like that. I've seen the flip aroun like that and even grow upside down from the cap. I would lossen the poly a little. You next flush will be numerous and your fruits will be more normal looking. If you get a third flush out of them they start to grow a little more scarce but produce monster fruits that weight anywhere from 5 to 8 grams dry. Also, when the caps start to turn blue is when you harvest. Sometimes you will see a partial veil and you can pick when it breaks and the cap turns blue. If the caps start to turn pale you waited too long. If they turn black they are aborts. They are a weird strain to grow but I love them. They are so interesting to watch grow. Just an FYI I dose penis envy out at 2.5 grams for a full trip. Be prepared, they are strong little bastards. Heres a pic of some recent monster I cut out.

Water droplets don't automatically cause bacteria of the nature that he has.  Dialing in will not fix this issue.

Yea I'm pretty sure it's contam at this point. They've stopped growing by now.

I originally started by dripping the the syringe spores onto agar, but also some straight to grain, so I haven't gotten a chance to clean it yet really. Just wanted one nice fruit to clone.. But it is prob a good idea to go transfer those agars again.

RN I do have 2 spawn bags i plan to use next.. I really hope they are good, they look good hope they'll smell good too.
