1. These are mutants they are mushrooms without a top. You can pick them and eat them. If you leave them they should just grow into big ball shapes.
2.Your pins should double in size every day until they are fully grown, mabey a week.
3.The amount of aborts and the amount of mushrooms you get will depend on how good your terrarium is.
4. I am pretty sure rhizomorphic growth is better.

The aborts are the primo shit! On each PF style cake you should get quite a few. They don't seem like much, but when you have collected them from all of the cakes you should have plenty. In my experience they are really really potent. I gave my brother some that I had been collecting along the way, no more than 2 grams, and he totally flipped out. He has had plenty of experience so I don't think that it is attributed to lack of knowlage. Anyway, keep those little bastards seperate as your personal stash for a special time.
