Amsterdam question...

I plan on taking my wife and 3 teenage girls to Germany and the Netherlands this summer for a couple weeks. I haven't been to Amsterdam since Sept. 01, and was wondering if the laws have changed concerning the coffeeshops...any restrictions on nationality to purchase/consume, any changes that would affect me legally? Spent eight great days there on my honeymoon, and was hoping that things would not have changed too much since 2001...anyone got any pertinent info? Thanks and Peace!

My wife handled all the arrangements online...the flights were a reduced rate through our Credit Union (Singapore Airlines on a new 777), stayed at the Hotel Ibis (right next to Centraal Station). There are lots of packages online, but I preferred to do it "a la carte" so we could custom tailor our trip. I know there are several threads about making the trip you could check, but I recommend avoiding the "packaged" trip...

about how much loot did it turn out to cost per person? not including the coffeeshop visits, and food and what not.

Well, actually, this was not a "budget trip"...I mean it was our honeymoon after all. We spent about $650 per person for R/T tickets, and our hotel ran $120 per night, and we spent like mad fools...we dropped probably $4500 for nine days, including a side trip to Germany. This time, we will try a different spin and do it more casually and "hostel like" so the kids can get the feel of Europe. We'll rent a car and drive the trip rather than use the train/tram lines...we intend to wander more and have a looser itinerary.

What law was enacted on September 1st? I must have missed that news.

No law enacted, I was just referring to the fact that I haven't been there in three years and was wondering whether the legal status of use and posession had changed.

Thanks for the link, Anno...this is just what I was looking for. I had heard something about this but didn't follow up on it, and just started planning out our trip today.
