What would you do with 1 night in AMSTERDAM ??

A friend and I are visiting Switzerland and surrounding regions this summer and before flying back to the States, our flight has a 17 hour delay in Europe's most exciting destination, Amsterdam! I have been there on two prior occasions, but seemed to have missed out on some great stops along the way. Does any traveller with experience in Amsterdam have any good suggestions to make the best of the 1 night that we've got there?

haha, Those are some good suggestions, but nothing that I haven't already thought of. Besides, Amsterdam is sort of a tense place to have a trip, I'd wish I was out in the country. The last time I was in Holland I stayed in the coutnry with the famous actor/writer Albert Mol, which was an extremely interesting experience might I add.

Are there any good bars/coffeeshops in particular that anyone has experience with? I know Rookies near Vondelpark is a pretty low key place with cheap Heinekin and a good and skunky pool hall. The Rokerij shops are great laid back atmospheres too, and I'm looking for other unique venues that aren't aimed so much at just selling pot to tourists. Thanks guys.

I would drive to Haarlem, save a lot of money, enjoy the locals, and do a bunch of drugs.
