I will be in Tokyo for 8 hours, and need help

I know absolutely nothing about Tokyo, or Japan altogether for that matter. I have an eight hour flight layover, and I want to do the most awesome things possible in those 8 hours, but it has to be cheap, because all of my money is going on renting a house in the Philippines. I was thinking maybe I would get on a bus, go to an area of town with a bunch of cheap food vendors, eat, go to the top of some big buildings and shit, take pictures. I need to know, what are cheap or free things that I can do in Tokyo? How much does the bus cost?

if you're flying into Narita, then you'll probably need most of that time to figure out what gate your connecting flight departs from.

That is a fucked up airport.

Fuck, I am flying to NRT. Is it really going to be an 8 hour ordeal finding my gate? I have flown many times, I have lots of experience in airports. I was planning to find my gate first, get on a bus, eat, do some quick site seeing, go bact to airport. I want to be able to say I did more than just sit in a airport in Tokyo. Maybe Ill get a gram of meth and a couple Japanese hookers and fuck them behind a dumpster somewhere.

It probably won't take you 8 hours to find your connection, but an 8 hour layover is cutting it close if you're flying through NRT.

There's some pretty bomb pay showers, multiple smoking rooms, and a capsule hotel, IIRC. I've killed 8+ hours wandering around Narita a couple times.

My advice would be to save your money for when you get to the Phillipines. You'll probably have a lot more fun per dollar there then in Tokyo.

Yeah, sounds good. I am going to the chocolate hills, crocodile park, virgin forest, fernandez beach resort, fishing on davao river, im roasting a hog for my fiance's family and friends, zip lining, white water rafting, horse back riding. This is my first time leaving the United States, and my first real vacation, so im doing absolutely everything anyone could think of doing on vacation.

Narita has an international terminal where you don't go through customs or immigration if you are just using japan to connect to flights elsewhere. It's not really set up for you to actually leave the airport. You would have to go through passport control twice and still have to manage to get into the city which is pretty far from the airport.

Narita is an hour train ride to Tokyo proper.  And as koods mentioned, you would have to go through customs before getting on a train to the city anyway.  And once your in the city, you are faced with some of the largest most congested train stations on the planet...  Eight hours just ain't going to cut it...

Try to make the best out of Narita, there are lots of shops and some decent grub as well.  There is a stereotypical 7-11 in the airport that has most of the quirky cheap favorites you would find in the city.  That is the best your going to do...  If you ever want to do Tokyo, you need a lot more time, besides, experiencing Tokyo nightlife is one of the highlights of the city.
