im actually not even sure floating on your back is a viable option in the ocean.  it works in swimming pools but i think there's too many waves in the ocean, plus all the water rushing over your face.  If your a women your vagina will act like an extra air blatter like on a submarine to keep it afloat, but if you float on your back it will fill up with water and sink her


The waves would certainly be an issue but it would be easier to float in saltwater due to its greater density.  And I don't know what the fuck is up with the vaginas you've encountered.

As a long time diver & instructor I'd agree with most of what you've said. In salt water most people can float with their mouths above water without treading. A little air in the lungs makes it even easier. The waves can be a problem but face your head into them and time your breathing properly and you can deal with them too. What will get you is the cold. Even the Caribbean is cold enough to give you hypothermia after several hours of simply floating in it. The Atlantic would be measured in minutes.

Combine these difficulties with the thought you are about to die having been left alone in all that water (especially at night) and now you are panicking and soon will die. Sharks are of little risk, especially in the Caribbean, but the thought of them would definitely add to your anxiety.

Of course this assumes you've survived the initial fall which is unlikely.

Oh and I wouldn't count on dolphins coming to your rescue as they will normally have little to do with you. Supposedly sharks and dolphins do not get along and dolphins are known to attack sharks and drive them away by the dolphins repeatedly butting them with their heads, the dolphins normally being found in groups where as the sharks tend to be solitary.
