Having trouble pinning

So currently I have 2 fully colonized cakes in 2 seperate terrariums (i know kinda pointless but it gets the job done). 1 cake began pinning i believe like 5 days ago which i thought sounded about right since i birthed them on the 27th of january. Well, I'm coming up on 2 weeks and the second cake still shows no pinning. The only thing I can think of was the humidity was too high for a few days and cause the extra mycellial growth on the cake, but i removed enough of the perlite to hopefully bring it down enough. Would that have stunted growth all together? Little confused here.

put the perlite back. they need humidity. probably not a bad idea to dunk them now either. that "extra mycelial growth" is normal and would have stopped with pins forming shortly thereafter. dunk your cakes, put them someplace humid with a little light, and hopefully it'll be fine.

they were dunked before birth for 24 hours, i remember reading somewhere that a sign of high humidity is extra growth on the outsides like cotton balls, like the cakes continue to produce mycellium instead of pinning? please correct me if i'm wrong

they'll do that sometimes for a little bit. it's not a problem. you can crack the lid of the terrarium if you want, but taking the perlite out altogether makes it far too dry. there is no upper limit as to what rH cakes will tolerate. they will do just fine at maximum humidity.

lol oh no, i didnt take it all out, trust me i've done my reading, its still very damp in there, i just removed an amount to make it equal with the other cake that was already pinning... maybe i'll try putting a bit back in.
