dude cats are literally just constantly tripping. once you realize that then it all kinda makes sense.

but yeah, I've found out the hard way not to try and cuddle with them while rolling - I think the fact that I had big scary pupils and was trying to chase that particular cat down while on my hands and knees probably was also a factor... cat scratches can be really nasty.

I could've sworn that I've seen cats react to and 'chase down' the exact same visuals I was having while tripping, but maybe my brain was just reacting to the cats movements, idk.

I dunno, I think animals can see more of "that stuff" that we only see while tripping.

like how dogs see spirits n stuff.

but what i meant was, I heard rumors of them having super sensitive glands on their skin, and they can absorb drugs from your sweat through them, and I was like, yeah right. bullshit.

I was cat sitting for a friend (that i lived with for like 2 years) so I knew the cats really well.

I was frying, and pet one of em, and he literally went insane for the rest of the night.

objectively, tripping aside, he was acting really fucking crazy.

i thought it was total BS until that night though.

cats are interesting, but they dont have traits that make them a loyal and good animal to own in my opinion. A dog will have your back to the end of the earth. Will love you unconditionally. Will protect you until death.

Cat people will show you some video of a cat taking on a pitbull protect a baby, but for the most part cats dont have that trait. They will leave that dumb human to die. Just feed me you dumb human. I understand they aren't all like that, but typically the cats people describe as being the best cats ever, they are describing dog like traits.

Im in the camp if you don't want responsibility, don't get an animal period.

I realize different strokes for different folks though. Cats are fun to pet when you are stoned, and their super primal instincts are interesting to watch, but dogs just make better pets in almost every way in my opinion.

I accidently hit my ex girlfriends cat with a yo yo, it never ever let me near him ever again. If I hit my dog with a yo yo, they would be like like "FUCK YEAH DAD, DO THAT AGAIN! LETS GO DO SOMETHING. I LOVE YOU!"

There is definite evidence that dogs, cats, and other mammals can see UV light, at the very least, so the world must look very different to them - in the dark, at the very least.

I think it's fascinating to try and picture how other sentient creatures see the world and how 'truth' and reality really vary based on how a brain processes information - how the world looks to something like a reptile which essentially has a functional third eye. Or other animals that have the ability to see a higher spectrum of colors than we do. As a kid I always tried to imagine colors that we hadn't yet realized and needless to say..it's pretty unfathomable..it's really cool finally knowing that there are animals out there that do see these colors and that they do exist.

I have very very very mild synesthesia, that mainly involves 'seeing' and feeling sound, though it's hard to describe. I think lsd did that to me lol. But there must be other animals out there that also experience it, in a greater degree, probably.

Classic dog person saying how much they like dogs better. Someone make a dog thread so he can go there and express his love for dogs there...

Creating off topic discussion because you need to sit on a high horse about how much better dogs are.. no one asked you. We all probably like dogs just fine too. You clearly have never owned a cat so no one asked you about OPs situation ipso-facto don't chime in.

Honestly I have come to this realization multiple times while tripping myself. I think they have the ability to make themselves trip in certain situations. And then almost turn it off immediately. The eyes really give it away though.. How else can they get saucer pan pupils in broad daylight...

Yep. It's a dominance thing. Direct eye contact is basically a challenge. Blink deliberately and slowly. I'd also confine him to one room for a few days, let him explore every nook and cranny, and then let him out to the rest of the house. Gives the cat a "basecamp" type safe area to flee to if needed. Don't expect him to eat the first day or two, but always leave food and water out. When I got my feral rescue cat, he wouldn't eat unless the food bowl was in a sideways cardboard box he liked to hide in.

I would also avoid trying to pet him and stuff right away. Hold your hand out for him to sniff, and let him come to you if he wants. It's a long process.

Thanks for the reply, kinda nice to hear somebody else tell me what to do. Makes me feel better about how I have been treating him and enclosing him in the laundry room, my boyfriend wanted to immediately give him free-roam of the house, but I just wanted him to be at least comfortable in that room before letting him "explore" the rest of the house.

Thanks everybody else for their responses too, maybe today I'll take a photo of him to share with everybody.

On a side note, I am a believer in cats ability to see other wordily things, or to feel such energies.

That is why we wanted a cat, our house is haunted with benine spirits, thought a cat would help with it.

Either way, I love cats.

Update on the cat, for anyone that cares.

So he is eating, playing doing all normal cat things. He doesn't come out much during the day, however at night he plays and runs around the house doing cat things. We've been reading to him during the day and he'll occasionally come out and rub up against whoever is reading.

He'll eat in front of us but only in the laundry room. I think tonight we are going to move his water / food out into the kitchen in an attempt to get him more accustomed to the rest of the house. At least he has a safe place in the laundry room where he feels comfortable.

This is a picture I snapped last night, camera is hella shitty so it's the best I could get.

Maybe later today I'll see if I can get him to come out again and have the camera ready.

:sun:
