question about hydroton...

I have heard that geolite is the same thing as hydroton, so when I couldn't find any geolite, I got hydroton. My question is, does hydroton have the "wicking" properties that geolite has, or should I just double end case it and set the cake in the canning lid on the hydroton? Thanks, CH.

Basically the same stuff. Expanded clay. Had great success with dunk,shock, roll. Then just put the cake directly on the hydroton. No need for the lid. G L
