Geolite or hydroleca as it's known in the UK rules !!! It's sooo much easier to work with than perlite !

I'd think most garden centres in the States would stock it.

the only place my friend could find it was at a hydroponics store, it was called hydroton rock there. definitely a good buy, all you have to do is exchange the water, unlike perilite.

Yeah, nurseries MAY carry it but a hydroponics shop is the best. If you're really desperate you could always order it from growking.com. It will cost you more, but I think the shit is way more conducive to reuse than perilite.

Not by itself it isn't.
You will have to use long air stones or flexible air diffuser's with the geolite to get decent humidity.

You can find long air stones at the Pet store in the Fish dept.
But keep in mind that they break quite easy...so a flexible air diffuser is a much better investment...IMO

You can pick up a flexible air diffuser cheap at this site.
12" Flexible Air Diffuser - $3.95
24" Flexible Air Diffuser - $4.95
36" Flexible Air Diffuser - $6.95

You can get geolite from hydroponic shops...and from online hydroponic shops.

A search on the web for "geolite" will provide many sources.
One of the least expensive is http://www.discount-hydro.com.
Price: $11.95 - $34.95

good luck!

Is it really possible to find a queit powerful air pump? Thanks.

I've done this in the past and had no problems with h20/h202 saturated geolite.
