Royal Raid, WTF...
    #22773848 -

Out of the blue this ad/malware shit pops up, around the same time as this access problem I was having.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22738648#22738648
That access issue is all fixed now but this royal raid pop up shit has got worse, plus some new"smartsearch" function pops up instead of google:crankey:
I get it in firefox and IE.

While searching for an online fix, I saw this.

"WARNING!
To remove Royal Raid, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. Making a mistake and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC to be permanently damaged."

Anyone seen this before? I disabled it in add ons, it's still there.
I'm not too good with :typing:
Do I need a pro to fix it? I got a neighbor whose a bit of a computer geek who helped out in the past.

:noob::meltdown: . . . :peace:

the easy way is to format and reinstall your OS. it's also the most effective way

Transfer any pics/vid you wanna keep to an external drive, most programs are easier to reinstall

You don't have to have a computer genius to remove it, but would probably be easier. As long as you can follow instructions, you can remove it yourself.

http://howtoremove.guide/uninstall-royal-raid-ads/

Some programs require more than a simple disable or uninstall to get rid of. Some require you to manually shut down processes and delete registry entries. This seems to be one of those. The link above should get rid of it. Just follow it to the letter. As long as you know what you're doing (or reading instructions by someone who does) messing with the registry is pretty safe. You just go guessing and messing with stuff in the registry though, you can mess things up to where a full format and reinstall is the only option. So, follow it to the letter.

This is usually what I do, not worth my time to try a bunch of shit that may not end up working, just to avoid reinstalling a few things on a clean install. I don't usually reformat though, just reinstall the OS.

Thanks for the suggestions, didn't have to reinstall OS.

The wife and I sat down with the 'remove' info on her Ipad
and attempted to work through the process to get this shit off of my laptop.
2 heads are better than one, right?

We could not get it to safe mode to reboot, or reboot in safe mode.:wtf:
We fucked around with it for a while, ran a system scan(one I'd never seen before)
consulted each other each time before we hit 'enter'.
:doublefacepalm:
At least some quality time together was had, lol.
I guess there is something to that 'ya can't teach an old dog(or 2) new tricks'.

So I gave it to the neighbor and he went through it and deleted a bunch of stuff;
smartsearch, that royalraid, some weatherbug program, some 'web bar' search thingy,
some radio/free phone popup that had just recently showed up, something called Skyview.
Scype was also senting me random requests to connect, I told him to delete that shit too.

He also installed SuperAntiSpyware for future problem and suggested I defrag more often:confused:,
plus some other tips(don't click the black X on a strange window, just power off)
"Call me if anything happens. Don't try to fix it yourself", lol.

I have no clue how this shit got here, I rarely download or update anything.
My computer still asks me to switch to Windows 10(I have 7, what happened to 8 & 9)

First world problems.

I'm going to the library today anyway to pick up a movie we reserved The Cider House Rules
(yea, I still do that, too. Library's aren't just for puppet making, ya know)

I'm a see if they have this...

Any other suggested reading that might be helpful?
I'm about 3rd grade level when it comes to typing and computing stuff.

BTW, I don't game either, never even did Pacman or spaceinvaders,
pinball was my last game.
I did play "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" one Christmas when the kids were young,
but I don't play games...:snub:
