How useful is coco coir?

Hi guys, after weeks and weeks of pondering this I have decided not to buy any growkits or any of that and to try & do it by myself (with the help of this site, and of course you all!). I was wondering how useful using a 60% verm 40% coco coir casing mix is as opposed to a 100% wet vermiculite layer! Coco coir is pretty cheap anyway so I'll probably give a shot too (in a different container, of course) and see which one turns out better but the problem is that don't have a clue what coco coir is called in Spanish so finding it in regular shops might be a little difficult ... oh well.

its not sold as coco coir here either look for the spanish version of coconut husk fibre....it should be sold in a solid brick and should say expandable on the label and yes you'll wanna get some for sure coir is the best casing material I have worked with and I'm sure most will agree

Great idea not buying a grow kit! I get coir from the pet shop its sold as "forest bed"

coir is great! go for the 60/40 with verm...

I don't know what it's called in spanish, but hydroponics shops and pet shops  usually sell it...

Sometimes coir does not necessarily come in a brick, but is still coir.

potting soil and vermiculite mostly....both do work but coir is far superior imo
