Re: Do You Eat Pork? [Re: Lachy]

I like the first 10 or so pork rinds out of the bag, until they make my mouth all slimy.  Pork is really good mixed into things like soups or beans and rice, but it's not my favorite thing to eat a pork chop solo like I could with a good steak or some well seasoned chicken.  Bacon is good and all, but you can't really make a meal of it, and I'm not inclined to eat bacon that often.

I can make a meal out of it. Makes me such a fat ass to do it, but I've cooked up over a pound of it and just ate it all. I really can't get enough of that shit. The only thing that limits me when I make it is how much I make. If it's in front me of, I'm gonna keep eating the shit. As if that's not bad enough, I also like deep fried bacon served with gravy. Fat, cooked in fat and dipped in fat as I like to say.

I have an unhealthy obsession with it. It is one of my top favorite foods. I don't even really know why.

For the record, making huge amounts, the deepfried version or anything that insanely "fatass" like, is pretty damn rare. When I plan to eat it, I usually only make 2-3 slices. It's not even a weekly thing for me either since I almost never eat breakfast.

There are real reasons why people dont eat pork, it's not just to sound cool trying to act like youve never liked bacon.

scientists from Oxford University revealed that eating one steak per week increases one's risk of colorectal cancer by more than two-fifths and that people who eat meat twice a week have an 18 percent higher risk compared to vegetarians. Other studies have linked meat consumption to heart disease, diabetes, strokes and several other types of cancer.

And yet many people are still eating meat.

This may be because meat and other animal-based foods contain opiates and other drug-like chemicals that cause people to get "hooked" and keep craving more. A recent study conducted at the University of Michigan and released by the U.S. National Library of Medicine indicates that the more processed and fatty a food is, the more likely it is to cause addictive eating behavior.

I always want to become a vegetarian but I'm not convinced I could do it in a healthy way, and it's really difficult to break the habit.

I didn't watch the video really, just kinda skimmed. The first issue I saw in it though is saying pigs are disease ridden. Pork is one of the meats you don't have to cook to shit to be safe. Fish and Chicken, if you don't cook enough, you're gonna wish you were dead. Not saying they aren't dirty animals (or are for that matter) but there are more dnagerous things to eat that are basically daily staples for the world.

 That shit is like food crack. It's pretty much the only food that I will continue to eat even though I'm full and know I'll get sick. Like a kid after getting home from trick or treating. I cannot stop myself.

I've had this "condition" pretty much my entire life as well. As a kid I would eat the shit raw. Not kidding either. I never got sick from doing it, but I've liked it enough my whole life that that actually happened. Of course back then I was too young to really realize it posed a risk. I'd never do that now (besides, it's so much better when it's been cooked).

Yep. Quite often. I like it, I'd probably still be doing it if I didn't know the dangers of doing it. In the age old question of crispy vs chewy bacon, I am the chewy side. I cook it enough to make it safe and that's about it.

What research is it you feel I need to do? Are you trying to say it's safe to eat raw bacon or did you willingly ignore the fact that I have already said more than once I don't do it now and that I only eat bacon that has been cooked to standard food safe practices?

Pork is about my favorite meat, so much variety. All the popular favorites like bacon, ham, ribs, pork chops, pork sausage etc are killer, and even the second-rate sounding stuff like pork shoulder and pork hocks is awesome. Ground pork is good for stuff like wontons, or just straight as a breakfast meat.

You guys are crazy. What is so "gross" about pork that isn't gross about other farmed animals?

I don't eat much meat anymore but pork is delicious. I mean ffs, you guys don't like tenderloin? Ribs? Sausage? Pork belly? Are you all insane?

I used to hate pork, it just seems like an extremely dirty meat tbh. I'm not as picky anymore though so I eat it when I'm low on cash. They go for around $2.15 a pound at this small korean store near my house.

I always want to become a vegetarian but I'm not convinced I could do it in a healthy way, and it's really difficult to break the habit.

There's also plenty of evidence on the flip side of that, that a vegetarian diet isn't as healthy as one would want you to believe.

http://www.sciencealert.com/vegetarian-and-healthy-diets-may-actually-be-worse-for-the-environment-study-finds

Not to mention, different body and blood types need different dietary needs.
There is NO one size fits all diet. Period.

Some people may do fine without meat with a healthy balanced diet - THAT DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE.

I tried going vegetarian for about a year - I almost died. I was doing it "right" too and eating all the "right things". My iron and B12 levels went so abysmally low, I had no energy and felt like shit all the time. I went completely loopy and my head was stuck in the clouds. Militant vegetarians/vegans will tell you that you can get all the iron and B12 and creatine and shit you need from plants. That was not the case for me. You need to eat about a POUND of spinach to get all the iron you would get in a steak, and that's just iron.
I started eating meat again and all that shit went away. I NEED some meat in my diet, it helps keep me grounded in reality and makes sure I have everything I need.

So yeah.. vegetarian may work for some people, but it most certainly is not for everyone.
A better way is eating closer to your blood type
